Fancied getting an Omega for quite a while now and have been taking a look at prices.

I've seen that there are a couple of models available, this one is the larger 45.5 mm

Is this a good price? Or the newer version at 43.5mm is much more expensive

Is the newer one worth thr premium?

"Worth" is a difficult word when talking about Swiss watches, it's all subjective both are well made and well finished divers with good movements in them.

The 45.5mm has the 8500 movement the 43.5 the 8900 which is a "better" movement but you or I could never tell in my opinion.

It has to come down to what you like and how the two models wear on your wrist (the images you linked to do not do either any justice) for me I prefer the 45.5mm size wise and the 8900 model's finishing for the dial/bezel and case back.

Links below to the Omega website so you can compare specs.

I'm a big guy, 6ft 2 and 16 to 17 stone depending upon wine intake that month and my Breitling 46mm Superocean looks fine size wise, so I'm thinking that the 45.5 will look better on the wrist than the smaller version.

I'm a similar size to you and have the watch in your first link. It's absolutely fine size-wise for me, and I love it.

Price - that's a keen price from Goldsmiths and they *may* knock a little more off for cash. I paid Dom H slightly less than that for mine a few years ago.

I have two 45.5mm POs and yes the 45.5mm will be fine, I think you'll find the 43.5 too small (they wear smaller than the suggested case size will have you believe) as the bezel is smaller than the case.

Or you can get the older one in 42mm

45.5 might not be a problem but they are thick so you could find it wearing like a hockey puck.

Posting pictures of shirt cuffs wouldn't really make for a good watch forum would it? hehe

I love the internet, all sorts of "weird" gathers....
