I'm in Florida with family and have been offered a Grand Carrera Calibre 6 RS, white face black alligator strap for about £1800.00 including tax. This is from a reputable official Tag outlet. Couple of questions
a) Is it any good?
b) Is it a good price? Appears so.

Sorry to seem dumb but have promised myself a step up from £500.00 watches as its my 50th birthday this summer. I have purchased a Shinola whilst here ....never previously heard of them but very impressed. RRP $875.00 and paid $338.00 in their outlet store but still hankering after the Tag. Double self purchased birthday gifts maybe imminent!

From the Mall at Millennia?

I'd say buy it if you like it but don't forget import duty and VAT on top.

Also, for £1,800 I'd be thinking maybe an Omega 2nd hand, if you like any of them, and keep the value intact rather than see it plummet with a new Tag.

I was going to be naughty and just wear it home. Took 3 watches with me. Is instant depreciation a big issue with Tag as opposed to other brands, Omega/ Breitling?

All watch brands, but a few, depreciate instantly from new RRP. If that is a concern then the luxury watch market isn't something to get into.

Out of the 3 brands mentioned TH will be the biggest loser, closely followed by Brietling with Omega not far behind. It also very much depends on the discount achieved off RRP and specific model, as some are more desirable / harder to get hold of than others.

Just to clarify I reckon the best value is from good, well sourced, used watches, and I meant a used Omega, the whole watch, not just the second hand from an Omega at £1,800. For that price the hand would have to be made from unobtanium.

YoU might be diSmayed to find that HMRC will take a very dim view of that, should they haPpen to spot the box and paperS in your luggage.

I'd look so guilty going through customs I'd be spotted, spoken to, then go bright red and have the watch seized. hehe

Squadrons Rossa it is the Shinola I purchased as a consolation prize and posted inverted image of. As an update I did purchase the Tag Heur Grand Carrera RS Calibre 6. All in for £1616.00 so very pleased with it. Thanks for the tip. Other postal services are available I know but going to sort box etc and receipt.
