Just wear the watch through customs. In this day and age the last thing Border Force are worried is you returning from your hols. Lol. The late Explorers have the 3186 movement too.

Currently looking into a mint GMT II - 16710 from 1991/1992 a "N" series, for £4k.

...then starts the first world problem mentioned above. Which Rolex to leave at home?

Ah well...

My everyday watch is a 1990 GMT II with a Pepsi dial. Love the old girl dearly. No idea what she's worth!

Hi

Explorer 2 is a great but underloved watch, also nice that it's not the immediate choice for most people!

The 42mm gets a bit of stick bit I like the proportions and it wears really flat and comfortably!

I have a black dial that's now on a textile strap, was kind of thinking of selling as mentioned earlier but just not 100% sure, it's a great, not very flash watch! (Which are reasons to keep it)

If a Explorer 2 then I was thinking the 40mm size.

The latest one (since 2011 I think) with the orange hand (again) is 42mm, previous generation with red GMT hand was 40mm

40mm nice too

I bought a brand new z series gmt coke for £2800 ish in 2008 from an AD. Still unworn in a bank safe. Judging by the prices it's been a good investment.

My pre ceramic 2006 Gm2. I believe it had the 3185 Movement . It was a lovely piece and a well proportioned compared to the ceramics.

It was a minter , and had the so called "stick" or "error" dial. I paid 6.7k. Fullset and as new.
Forgive my ignorance, but what's so special about this?

Prepare yourself

See on the dial it says GMT MASTER 11 (but in roman numerals?)

Well on that particular watch the roman numerals have no horizontal top and bottom, that`s it, so the watch is known as a "stick dial" because the numerals are just "sticks"

Here are the 3 variations that were made the "stick" and the "rectangle" are considered to be "error" dials, mistakes, experiments, who knows but there are only a handful of each, making them collectible

Does look like it!

It`s a crazy, tiny, mad thing but kind of nice to know when you have one (I don`t)

I think mines an early z series, most likely with the 3185 movement.

I don't see many unworn / stickered pre ceramic GMTs, Subs yes, not really GMTs!

Nice honest piece , and i prefer the coke bezel.

Rolex collectors go all fuzzy over the tiniest of differences in the various earlier sports models. Not so much now as the newer sports stuff is all the same.

Back in the day though there was a crazty amount of differences. Just have a look at the site mattedial and you'll see that just one model the 5513 sub had hundreds of tiny differences over the years. Just don't get too carried away with searching for the ultimate vintage piece , it's a veritable minefield.

The 14060 M is a perfect watch , however i prefer the 5513.

I have owned a non M 14060 , 2 x 114060's and 2 x 5513's.

Currently this is welded to my wrist...
Out of interest what year is the 5513 mine is very similar
