The main screw looks a bit skew-whiff to me. I do prefer the other ALS.

Very useful! Every watch should have one.

Nice to see a few more thoughts and posts. The Vacheron perpertual is nice, but I don't think it feels quite as elegant as it's Patek counterparts?

I've viewed a very lovely platinum Patek 5140 as well. It was so much nicer in platinum than gold, that it is certainly up there with the 5940 for me.

A picture below. It wears well on me, I think.

Good question! The occasion it is being bought for is the very start of 2018, so anytime between now and then.

Just need to find one, in the UK, in budget and it in mint/unworn condition.

So is it going to be the Patek 5940? I think you're right, it wears well on the photos you've posted. Platinum? That's got to be outrageously expensive, but very very nice!

I happened to walk in to an AD for Lange this weekend and was looking at an 1815 (in rose gold), which was absolutely stunning and the finishing really was a stand out feature. Even though I said there was no way I was able to contemplate a zeitwerk when chatting about watches, I was shown a WG version identical to the one above, and my word is it something special! It's a mastercraft in the art and micro engineering of making something so simple (i.e. a digital display) so complex and beautiful. Just stunning. Is it worth 60k? I don't know, but if I had that sort of money to spend on yet another unnecessary watch I would be very very happy indeed! This little excursion has made me want a far more modest Lange (such as the beautiful 1815) even more now, so I probably should have just thought ahead and avoided that shop entirely.

Incidentally, I was able to compare directly to a couple of Patek's the same day, and in my view, on the day, the Lange's just shone - particularly when viewing the movements.

I've been reading thru some older posts - and came across your original post about buying your Nautilus. Still enjoying it? I think you mentioned that you were smitten but then later that you didn't wear it that often.

There's a beauty of a virtually new 5940g on TZ's SC just now at £36k. Can't see you getting a better deal than that one.

I don’t if anyones mentioned the PP 5205R? You can grab one for around £32k Brand New! It wears like a dream and is so beautiful. It’s one on my list for the future. I’ve had enough of Rolex now for a while (own 3 gold day-dates).

Update, 5940 no longer available at TZforums, but sadly not due to a purchase by me. I was just a bit slow!

The 5205 is a nice watch and I tried it on (picture above on 22 August). Feels more like a sportswatch than an elegant Patek though. To me, that is...

I never wear it now if I'm honest, in fact I've probably not worn it more than 10-12 times in total. I do still think it is a thing of beauty but just not for me.

I was exactly the same. Sold it a few months ago. No regrets at all. Never owned a watch that was more comfortable to wear, tho'.

If you look at the link I posted above it's the same watch albeit £3k more.

where did you sell it if you don't mind me asking?

OP - sorry for wandering a bit off topic!

It is indeed and the op could have had it at the lower price if he'd responded to the email from the seller he requested to be put in touch with.

But as that seller said, "his loss".

Not at all. Privately to a TZer I know and had done business with in the past. He gave me a good price, but one that left him a chunky margin too. Pleasant deal all round.
