All noted Emil and thanks for the input, appreciated. Heading to NYC tomorrow and whilst I will no doubt have a wee look, I think given the personal / sentimental importance of this purchase to me I'm going to wait it out through my AD whom I really like. Ultimately it's all part of the buying experience is where I've got to in my mind and I'm happy to wait it out. That said, if I did find one, it would certainly test my resolve...!

Good luck with your hunt, regularly popping in to see your AD seems to help going off other threads and just having a general chit chat, with a gentle reminder of where you are on the list.

This would be a good time for an update for me as well. In terms of my watch collection I sold my last SubC ND last year as it was simply never worn. I am on the list for a 5167A and a 5711 though my AD knows that these are for milestone birthdays and I do not expect to receive one for quite a while.

I am also working in Brussels and regularly travel across mainland Europe on weekends, visiting AD's when possible. This includes France, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and even Schiphol airport a few times. I still have not come across a single desirable SS in a window and when I ask in the shop they all give the same answer, closed waiting lists apart from the AD in Maastricht as mentioned before.

There are quite a few grey dealers in Maastricht and every desirable Rolex watch is basically available from them there and then, one shop had 5 LVC's and CHNR's in the window when I visited last summer.

In terms of what next for my watch collection, as mentioned above I'm hoping to get a 5167A and a 5711 to my collection in the next few years, at this point the LV may be sold off as it's a lot to have in watches, and I would like to get a JLC ultra thin watch and finally a jubilee bracelet for my BLNR.

I bought a Tudor from WoS yesterday and was just chatting about watches and he mentioned the whole building a relationship thing, I asked about a Sub, the sales person said I could have one in around 6 months so I said I'd go for one, stick me on...he tried to get me to buy both a date and non-date...i'm not sure if he was blagging me or not.

I'm guessing he's on commission of some form?

He said he'll stick my details down on the system for a callback in 6 months...I didn't pay anything or sign anything, it was all very casual...seemed easier than it's made out? Am I getting a sub??

Also...when I went in last month, another salesperson said 18-24 months...

Did you buy anything from the previous salesperson? If not that may explain the reduced timescale.

No, I was interested and then just mentioned it in passing.

At least it shows that it does work...thinking I should have bought a Seamaster instead now, but the Tudor Chrono is nice enough to keep me going for a while :P

I find some of the comments on here quite amusing and some ADs seem to think customers are privileged to be allowed to buy something from them. Possibly similar to a few car dealers that I can think of.

I could, perhaps, understand it if people were talking about ultra-rare items but Rolex are churning out, what, c. 800,000 'units' per year according to figures I've seen (and also mentioned earlier on this thread). They're good quality watches but some of the dealers certainly try and build the 'brand'; some of them are even beginning to sound the same with Tudor, pushing the 'Rolex Tudor' brand, possibly playing on the branding issue a touch too much?

Having said that, having seen a watch in a window display that caught my eye, I've had a Seiko dealer tell me that they could only sell me a particular watch at anything less than rrp (admittedly not a 'base/regular' Seiko) if Seiko would agree to it laugh . Seriously?

I think you mean 'Tudor by Rolex: a Rolex brand.'
