Just goes to show how much taste is personal, really don’t like the Kermit, but love my Hulk. It’s the clash of green bezel and black face that never quite worked for me.

I loved the look but, like others, could never really carry off the green..not the easiest colour to match.

I preferred my 16600 for every day..it just felt more substantial than the LV and now my go to watch is the deepsea

I was tempted to chop in the LV for an aquanaut that I would actually use but I know if I ever sell it I'll never be able (or willing) to pay the money that flat 4 models are going for now..once you are talking circa 20k there are a lot of other watches I think are better value

My advice is buy sooner rather than later!

I bought my Rolex Deepsea in 2011 and have been on the hunt for a 79 Pepsi GMT since really. I left the UK to move to Aus in 2012 and then they were around £3,000 and I wish I had just got one then! It has got harder and harder to find that elusive watch until 2 weeks ago when I paid £9,100 for a 16750 1979 watch.

I gave up on 'needing' box and papers and instead concentrated on picking an original watch with the serial that made it 1979. Hands/dial/bezel etc are all original but the clasp is newer which doesn't bother me.

Did I pay too much? I bet a few will say yes. But you try buying the perfect version of your favourite watch in your birth year for a 'cheap' price. It's not easy biggrin

I haven't even had it in my hand yet but it's sitting waiting at home for me to arrive home from work on Wednesday! I suspect it'll feel ridiculously flimsy after a DSSD but I'm well prepared for that.

I just got LV back from Rolex after having a service and it looks like new again
Not a single mark to be seen anywhere ,
I paid only £3100 for it back in Dec 2009 now as it is still with the plastic on it and
The fresh 2 year warranty I bet I could get around £8.5 for it easily

Where was that serviced then, that spells December with a Z? Germany?

As a guide on values, selling prices etc.

I sold my GMT II black/red 1998, spring this year.
Had all boxes, tags, clothes, paperwork (except receipt and warranty card)

Nice thing, good (worn condition) last serviced 10 years ago.

Advertised it on PH, for £4,100, lots of calls emails and offers at circa £3,500

Took it to the local Rolex dealer, they popped it in their window for £5k, (sold in a month or so) and gave me £4k back.

WF offered me £4.8k for my (2002) 16710 Coke with B&P about five months ago. I'm keeping it.

Looks like even certain The Grand Tour presenters are getting in on the classic 'Pepsi' GMTII schtick.

Got one (Pepsi)! Great condition, box & papers and a great price too (if there’s such a thing now!).

I’ll stick a pic up on ‘the other thread’ when it arrives this week hopefully.

What is a 'great price' these days, if it's not a rude question?

What may be of interest, and keeping within the spirit of this thread, is a bit of a ‘market watch’ for Pepsi’s?

Reports on the lowest price that can be found for a mint/fair (condition 1 or 2) with box and papers based in UK?

£7950 is the cheapest that’s still available that I can find:
