Don't know that I've heard the chap - must say I do like Dave Lamb of Come Dine With Me though.

On the other hand, I was watching a programme about an ancient city being surveyed by archaeologists off the coast of Greece the other day, really interesting but I just didn't think Philip Glenister was really the right person to voice it. He'd dialled down the Gene Hunt quite well, but not completely.

Yarp, he is King of tatty ones for me, he should do Coach Trip as well.

Docs are tricky, David Attenborough is king of the sedate engaging voice, and the Beeb have very few (I now cannot think of any) voices to replace him. Fry is awful.

I think David Tennant is pretty good at voice-overs.

At least voice over people tend to be professionals who know what they're doing.

Compared and contrast with Channel 4 using continuity announcers who are utterly unintelligible because they've got their favourite disabled bloke, northerner or whatever having a go to crank up their diversity quota. Hint: it might give you a warm feeling to have someone who can't speak properly because of a huge facial deformity doing the job (though like pissing in your wetsuit no one else experiences the warmth because *they can't see the guy*), but their mumbling ruins it for all those other disabled people who rely on trying to understand what was said.

Rant over.

Neil Oliver? Brilliant. I could listen to him read the phone book and I'm a firm believer in the saying 'what do you find if you lift up a pony tail? A horse's arse.'

Pal of mine is married to a voice over artist (Capital fm/Baftas etc), by all accounts she makes a very good living from it and works mainly from home in a converted broom closet.

Personally I like the bloke from Come Dine With Me, very droll!

Who was the guy that used to do The price is Right? Is he the same one who announces X-factor?

The chap that does Robot Wars is good, oddly enough he sounds like Craig Charles who IIRC he took over from and was also great at it.
