Discussion
As per the above
Has anyone owned one? I am not sure on the rubber band in all honesty - any comments welcomed.

I’ve been pondering one of these. What’s the view on the right price to pay? There is an awful lot of variation on C24, looks like it might be achievable at £16-17k?https://m.rolex.com/watches/cosmograph-daytona/m11...
Big fan of these. Have been close to getting the ivory dial a no of times.
I prefer on leather not sure if these oysterflex are available separately (and the cost) but there are others - rubber b, Everest if you want to buy on leather and then have on a rubber strap.
As others say these can be had around 16k on c24 which for me is not bad against 15k market price for the steel version.

Oysterflex is a little bit more than a rubber strap.
A little, but I couldn't part with that sort of money and sleep well at night.Granted leather looks better, but I'm no fan of the Daytona, so not bothered either way
Interest in vintage Rolexes as grown considerably over the last 20 years.
Although, it's actually the earlier, hand wound, 'Daytonas' that are most sought after with eye watering prices - Paul Newman's Daytona selling for US$18m
However, there is a lot of affection for the Zenith El Primo 4030 caliber Daytona, particularly in s/s. It was Rolex's first automatic chronograph and made in (relatively) modest numbers compared with more recent production. It's been out of production for some 18 years so like, say, aircooled Porsche 911s, they'll never make any more, and are becoming increasingly collectible.

Rolex have a strong brand history and it seems many people think a vintage model is more tasteful than a brand new latest model.
