this today. Not had it long, but really like it. have temporarily swapped straps on it and trying to decide whether to refurb or not.
Top gun watch?
It is i think yes, or the 'Doyle' watch, depending on view! I think its also the Chuck Norris watch, although not sure his was the same!

Actually quite like that. A bit busy for my usual liking, but think the face colour manages to get away with it.

If it was mine, I wouldn't refurb it - the patina looks good.

It's a difficult watch to photograph, the face changes colour depending on the light.

Yes, I'm still in the deckchair hehe

Love the variation of straps in this thread.

Currently toying up whether or not to purchase an Omega Seamaster 2225.80.00 for my birthday

My cheap rip off of a rip off of a rip off...

Armida A2.

Paid less than 50% for it than the comparable Steinhart (which I've had before) and am really happy with it for the money.

A nice alternative for when my Garmin isn't really suitable.

The blue GMT aquaterra solid bezel is on my list of potential 30th year treat for myself. Can't decide between that, or a Rolex explorer/airking/milgauss.

After inheriting my dads Rolex and wearing it everyday decided I needed to get a more everyday watch, was a toss up between Tudor BB and Omega Seamaster.

The inner child James Bond fan won in me. Decided to go for brand new so I can put my own story on the watch (scratches etc), went for 41mm Seamaster 300 in Blue.

Still on the list for a Tudor BB GMT as well which I hope I get.

Change to the aquaterra today. Went for the golf edition for the splash of green on the dial. Much prefer this model to the new one. The date position at 3 o’clock just feels more natural and framing the date balances out the dial better given all the hour markers are white gold.

So

Probably the first Omega I've liked. When were they around new? Are they an in-house movement?

I bought mine in 2013. It is the calibre 8500 co-axial in house movement. Looks amazing with the exhibition case back. It’s such a versatile watch. There was a later model with a full green second hand before the latest (horrid iteration imo) was launched. The one with the full green second hand doesn’t have the date window surround though which upsets the dial balance a touch.

It's in average condition I would say. The issue is Orfina want 1k to refurb it which means you'll be doing it out of love, i'm not sure. I'm never going to sell it, so it might be worth doing, but it has a charm about the fact its been well used in its 40+years

Ah, not so keen on that. It's a tool watch, not a carriage clock. A case of Omega saying, "look it's not an ETA"?

I've got an anniversary IWC Ingenieur that has a display back. I love the whole look and feel of the watch apart from the glass back.

It really puts me off it even though you can't actually see it.

Why do it unless you are displaying a rare thing of beauty?

The AT isn't really a tool watch its an all rounder. The Seamaster is the tool watch like the explorer 2 is to the explorer 1. The beauty of the AT is that you can dress it up or down and the display back plays a great role in that.

It's not meant as a criticism of this particular watch - I was just wandering down the path So pointed down.

How does the back of a watch enable you to dress it up or down?
