That Timex is like a breath of fresh air on here - for those of us of a certain age!

I am guessing that you are older than your watch? How "patinated" does the watch look?
Probably nothing that couldn't be cleaned up but I don't intend doing so.
Quite agree, but that wasn't my point.

On the occasions when I've looked at birth year watches for myself, it strikes me how much wear and tear they display. Then I consider how much wear and tear I must have!

The Timex is incredibly elegant. Was wanting one a while back ago but talked myself out of it. Back when you can pick them up for peanuts on eBay. Seems that when they reissued the marlin the prices of the vintage ones went a bit higher too.

Ha ha. I see what you mean. Though I'm more damaged than patinated! My wife gives me a rub down now and again to keep me shiny.

Vostok Amphibian- also very cheap. £75 new on amazon, you can find them from 20 odd quid.

Thanks, will keep an eye out for one! I really like that. I’m currently rocking a CCCP Raketa naval watch, lovely thing!

Wow. Yeah, that is beautiful. Sometimes it isn't the most expensive watches that are the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I will be looking on Amazon now too!! Thanks!

A quite unexpected - and very welcome - birthday present from a work colleague.

It’s a Seiko 5 on a funky Nato strap. Lovely thing.

Seiko font is wrong no movement details on the dial.

There's probably more but it looks to be a $12 special out of India.

Open the back and see what movement is inside I'm 99% sure it won't say Seiko on it.

I don't think that has ever seen the Seiko factory. But they should build one just like it because it's quite a good looking thing, the strap notwithstanding.

Thanks, I have a few Soviet era watches and a few modern ones too. I used to be really into watches and would scour ebay for anything vintage that caught my eye. I ended up with some nice little pieces as well as some junk. This redialled HMT was about £15 I think, but it only lasted a couple of weeks before it broke and it was made from paper thin steel.
