It’s a 5146. Only precious metal versions exist, it can be had with a bracelet or on leather. Mandelson wore one at the Labour Party conference...yes it is the watch of ‘champagne socialist’ infamy!

I really like them. I wanted a Patek with calendar. I want a perpetual Patek really but I’m not mature enough to own one and be trusted to look after it, haha. There is a lot of love on this forum (and others) for A Lange and Sohne but they do nothing for me...I’m a sucker for branding/marketing/history I guess.

I like the utility of the face. Not too busy. It’s beautiful. Enjoy smile
I love it, but if I'm being honest I find the power reserve, a complication too far for the dial.
Still love it tho. Real watch envy. smile

Yeah a power reserve is quite a marmite complication. Arguably useless and takes up space but I like it!

Yes. Sorry was the brevity of referring to it as a power reserve a step too far smile

I do t use it much as I tend to wear this watch daily for a week or two and then put it away for months.

That's hilarious.... 'almost' hard to believe. But, of course, fairly typical.

This Edifice was one of two that I’ll be keeping from the job lot of 9 that I got on eBay.de for €70 (the other being a Hanowa chronograph).

€23 later, it has a new strap and wears very nicely indeed. The LED side lighting and multiple time zones will make it a great work and travel watch (I have to fly around quite a bit, I’m an opera singer).

are complications not all ultimately useless, taking up space? I thought the point of them was not function but intricate clever engineering.

Well to put it simply most complications tell you something about what’s happening in the outside world - time, elevation, date, etc...

A power reserve indicator tells you something about what’s happening inside the watch...which most times you can ascertain from memory and whether it’s ticking smile

I have a relatively pricey watch which adds £200 to my home contents policy. I can imagine this adds quite a bit more? Id worry a bit that someone might try and tear your arm off fir that piece Dimots

My dear missus bought me this very recently for a ‘significant’ birthday. Never been a big Rolex fan but I absolutely adore this.
On holiday in Lanzarote last week, reached for a water glass in the night, knocked my watch off onto the tiled villa floor & this happened. Ah well, that’s what insurance is for, it’s off to Rolex next week for some TLC...

Ouch! Looks like it's gained a few scuff too. Will you get those polished out at the same time?
Best of luck.

It must be the camera as there’s actually no marks or scratches at all on the bezel, so it seems the corner of the lens took the full brunt of the fall.

next time leave it at home and get a fake from a looky looky man... no one you meet in lanzarote would know the difference anyway, and would probably assume your real one is fake!!
