Arrived today Seiko 5 SNZG13K1 42mm with 22mm lugs which is a good size for me. £60 plus post, bracelet full length which was better than I hoped and I’m struggling to find a mark on it... another bargain from cash converters!

Please excuse the ragged sleeve, domestic duties today.

The sub £25 sub has arrived!

Positives:

  • It’s reasonably well made
  • The dial and hands look great
  • Movement is hacking and hand winding
  • Bezel and insert look great
  • O rings on the crown
  • Wears very comfortably
Negatives:

  • The edges of the lugs are razor sharp
  • The crown doesn’t fit snugly when fully screwed in
  • Bezel has lots of play
  • I highly doubt it’s water resistant
  • NATO strap is awful

I’ve slapped it on an AliExpress curved end silicone strap and will wear it for a couple of days.

Stay tuned though, this is a project and it will look very different soon!

Deaumar ensign, it was a shortlived microbrand from about 4 years ago. It never quite funded on kickstarter but he went ahead anyway.

Every review I have seen raved about them, it's got a seiko nh36 movement, sapphire glass with ar coating, solid end link bracelet and a ceramic bezel.

Comes in a lovely leather travel case complete with a quality Control document from owner who hand checked every single watch. Also included are three brand new isofran style straps with Signed buckles.

I'm impressed and really wish he did more watches.

Don't knock a cheap china watch. I got my cheapie off Aliexpress for £15 incl del. Automatic too! Originally I bought it to take apart and use it as a learning tool to gain some more knowledge about movements and how to build a watch.

On arriving, it looked too good to strip apart. I changed the leather strap and this is what it looks like today. Over 1 week of wear, it didn't deviate enough to need me to adjust the time (less than 1min). If I can be bothered, may stick it on the timegrapher.

Looks far better on the silicone strap, and I must say it looks good as is, so looking forward to seeing what you do with it!!

And yes that Aliexpress watch is amazing for that money!!!

If you do a search for FNGEEN on aliexpress you'll see loads of this branded stuff.

If you filter mechanical on the left, then should be a little more manageable.

Here 's a link to my one (not sure if exactly the same, as I got mine 2yrs ago)

I suppose this thread is the best place to ask the following question, rather than starting a brand new thread.

I am looking to buy a green dial automatic divers watch (like the one posted above) to wear for work as i don't fancy damaging the watch i wear when I am not at work. It would need to meet this criteria if such a watch exists:

Metal bracelet
Automatic movement
Must be able to take a knock
Cost at most 250 pounds

So could anyone suggest a specific watch that may match the above? I have seen a Rotary however its a quartz movement and the Seiko 5 is a little out of my price range.

I appreciate I'm not going to get the highest quality watch on the market, but I love the look of a green dial divers watch however I am too poor to afford a 'Hulk' Rolex Submariner.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

As said above, I bought mine last year, it's a lovely watch, nice weight to it, feels and looks fantastic, incredibly pleased with it!!

I'd seriously argue with your comment about not getting a good watch at this price point though.

On the other end of the budget... This is an ebay purchase from two years ago. Mint condition Victorinox Airboss. Put it on a nice nato, only gets worn about once a month, but a permanent resident of my collection.
Only manual wind I have, same movement as some Panerai iirc.

Thanks, actually bought it "for my son" when he was born, as he's named Victor. Planning on giving it to him one day... (well, if he outlives me that is whistle)

The open back is also nice.

It really was a bargain, I did not expect to win it at that price.
