The under £200 watch thread!
Discussion
The only thing I want now is a triple calendar, but doubt it will be in the £200 thread
I don't really target any specific brand..more look for new listings (esp with buy it now and offers accepted).
I think I know my style so can quickly scan the small pics. I do try to limit the search to Euro/UK as there's too many reworked dials and seaguls, unless I'm looking for something extremely specific.
There's plenty out there, especially if you like chabby chic.
I'm about done buying now as I have quite a few for a good rotation.
I did miss out on a Citizen Spaceman...not many come up, and well over £200.
Thta's probably one I might get sometime, as well as a triple calendar.

It's funny as I buy on looks and price, I prefer chronograph watches for looks but I have to look at it and straight away say yeah I like that, then it's price, Mrs Bobbers wanted to buy me something special for my 50th in a couple of years(yeah I know a long way off but she wanted to start saving) but when it comes to watches I'm not that careful with them, they get knock and brushed against stuff so if I had a £2000 watch I'd be really pissed if I damaged it, her solution is to get me a watch around £500 and a couple of bottles of 25year old whisky (my other passion and it's our 25th anniversary the same year as my 50th!!).
I put this up in the Seiko thread, so sorry for the re-post but I didn't realise there was a <£200 thread!
My first foray into mechanical watches - a 1972 Seiko 6119-7183 for a big slice of '70s style. £103 from ebay and it's keeping quite good time (-1sec in 24 hours). It's got one small nick in the case but otherwise it's really nice - all sharp edges and lovely milling.

Posted in the Seiko thread but just took delivery of this Seiko SNZF17KI.
I prefer the oyster bracelet and bezel on this over the SKZ. Bought for £104 from Creation watches plus £31 charges so still cheaper than anywhere else I could find it.
I don't know much about watches but if anyone knows any other cheaper/entry level diver watches such as the above and the casio MDV-106 I'm all ears. not spending as much as £100 though!

Yup good choice for holidays, bought an SKX but just love it too much to wear on the beach or swim with it. (stupid I know) But that is just the ticket for me and at £60 on Amazon you cant fall off really!
Enjoy, Im gonna too.

Going slightly off-topic but I have also recently bought a Sea Urchin which I really like - it's my first auto and now I'm looking for a Winder - any recommendations?
Nice, just get a cheap one off Amazon. Mine lasted 5 years then just stopped working but for £50 for a double vertical winder £10 a year is okay by me.Bought a single Wolf one now (second hand) which is supposed to be better in every way, erm but isn't IMHO!
Does anyone know of either an automatic or hand winding watch with a functioning moon phase display in this price bracket?
I was showing a friend some watches in a jeweller's over the weekend, pointing out what the various complications were and evidently he loves a moon phase. He's in the process of buying a house so not exactly feeling cash rich. I said i'd have a look for something in this price bracket, but it's proving as difficult as i'd imagined. I had a look at Creation Watches, which allows you to view only moon phase watches and that didn't find a true moon phase. What it did find was a terrific looking Orient, but it has a sun / moon indicator (effectively an am/pm display) rather than a moon phase display:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CHT9BBU/ref=asc_df_...
Still a great watch that i'm quite tempted to buy myself.
Looking back through this thread i saw Parnis and they make this:
https://parnis.org/products/parnis-watches-classic...
Which looks great, but the moon phase display isn't mentioned in the description, making me think it's purely cosmetic and doesn't actually do anything.
So back to the original question, have i missed anything in the <£200 range? If there's nothing, what's the cheapest moon phase out there?

It would appear that unless you want to go really cheap and unheard of then the Orient is the way forward, it's not a true moon phase watch as it has a sun and moon phase, but a little digging on Amazon unearthed this:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Orient-Classic-Automatic-... which I happen to think is a lovely looking watch and quite elegant!!I was showing a friend some watches in a jeweller's over the weekend, pointing out what the various complications were and evidently he loves a moon phase. I picked this up from TZ UK a couple of weeks back. It’s a Maranez Kata, and a much cheaper option than the Oris 1965! It was £160 all in, which I don’t think is bad at all.
Ok, I like that especially as I'm looking for a divers watch but don't want to pay big money, can you supply details please, and pardon my ignorance but what is TZ?Bobberoo99 said:

Apologies for the delay replying, been out most of the afternoon/evening. This is the maker’s site, Maranez watches (but doesn’t look like the Kata is currently available): http://www.maranez.com/watches.php
TZ UK is a watch forum. You need at least 50 posts before you can view the sales forum (it might even be 250 posts now). Main forums are here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/forum.php
The guy running the TZ site also sells a number of different watches here: http://www.timefactors.com
