I also like Helm watches [I’m actually wearing a Helm Vanuatu in the pictures of the Maranez). There was a Helm Khuraburi for sale on TZ UK for £210, basically as new. I missed it due to dithering.

List price on Helm is $300, plus $30 shipping and whatever taxes/duties you get hit with.

Kicking myself!

Apologies for the delay replying, been out most of the afternoon/evening.

This is the maker’s site, Maranez watches (but doesn’t look like the Kata is currently available): http://www.maranez.com/watches.php

TZ UK is a watch forum. You need at least 50 posts before you can view the sales forum (it might even be 250 posts now). Main forums are here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/forum.php

The guy running the TZ site also sells a number of different watches here: http://www.timefactors.com
In special offers http://www.maranez.com/watches.php#!/SPECIAL-OFFER...

Sorry! It feels a really nicely put together watch, and I think you get a fair bit for your money (I think one or two of the leather straps were extra in my deal). If you want any more photos of anything specific, let me know, either on here, or fire me a pm.

Sorry, again! This is my first Bulova. I quite like some of the newer ones but I tend to prefer an auto over quartz (which this is). I normally also go for blinding lume when I can, so this is a bit of a departure for me. My watches all tend to be over 40mm, with the exception of my Dad’s 1956 Omega Seamaster, high I inherited after he died. is a “birth year” watch though!

I think it’s a nice looking watch and I’ll be interested to see it in the flesh. If it’s not for me, I can always sell it on.

Between buying discounted Lego and lower end watches, being off long term sick with a broken leg is getting quite expensive! I probably need to limit my internet use.

Really? I thought the message was that the time in the UK is whatever the hell Her Royal Majesty says it is. Disagree and it's a trip to the Tower, peasant.

Under the £200 Is horological royalty. A 1944 Longines, bought in Cairo during the war and left to me because I expressed an interest. So, initial cost zero plus £150 or so renovation costs. Keeps good time, too.

The hands needed most work. The luminous stuff had almost all fallen out leaving bare frames.

Cheers, me too. I’m really fussy/picky, but it just looks “right” to me. Some of the Timefactors watches, or other microbrands, I really like... except for one word, written in a font I don’t like, which just puts me off the whole watch. Silly, I know, but I’d just get irritated every time I looked at the face.

For example, this Borealis Estoril. I like it, except for the font on the “Estoril”:

You know what chaps, we appear to have found a rather nice selection of affordable watches, proof that you don't need to spend a small cars worth on a watch for it to look great, keep good time and still be within a sensible budget, we have everything from Seiko to Bulova and a multitude of choices in between!!!
And Dicky i must say that Longines is a truly elegant looking watch, i reckon i'd be hard pushed not to wear that every day!!!

Good Lord, no! There will be months of preparation. A new wardrobe and so on. And after all that I'm such a cheap date. One sniff of the barmaid's apron and I'm all over the show.

Whereabouts in Winchester? Y'know, just in case.
