Lovely. Very Explorer-esque, but in a good way.

Thanks for the tips... I will look into getting all that kit and put something together over the next couple of weeks.

Here's my new russian on its matching strap for the moment...

The gold doesnt quite match, but I like how the white stitching ties in with the white tracks on dial... Quite chuffed with how it turned out. Its a very unusual watch and can only find 1 x more example online, which is priced at more than 10x the price I paid!

Put this on the wrist check thread but thought it should be here as well. Got it on ebay for £175. Needs some restoration that will probably double that but it works fine as it is. It's a Seiko 7a28. The worlds fist analogue quartz chronograph from the early 80's. The later RAF versions go for silly money these days.

TK Maxx look to have some fairly good stuff that fits into this thread. Quite a few Citizens and a few Swiss Military type watches that look good for the money.

Following on from the posts on parnis I took advantage of the current sale on AliExpress and have one of these sterile dial explorers on the way from watchery2016. First time ordering from China so hoping it will work out okay.

Made this myself so I'm quite proud how it's turned out.

Knackered SNKL09 from eBay £17
New NH35 movement £21
Rafflestime dial £15
Rafflestime Hands £18
New Crown £6
Rubber Strap from AliX £1

Total £78.

It took a while to get it all together but is well worth it. Give it a go!

These look like the same watch to me, just a different strap.

Edited to add.........On closer inspection it looks like the same hands and face only.

Yes, very similar. Never gave the explorer style a second look but read a bit on them recently so thought I'd try out the parnis. Good job on that old Seiko.

Been keen to try a brown rally strap on my rotary Chronograph... Think it suits it well.

Having recommended that eBay seller I really hope it works out well!

Seems to have a decent enough seller rating so fingers crossed.

Bulova Lunar Pilot has dropped to 391 at H.S. Johnson and also 10% code available to make it 352.

Thoughts? Buy or wait?

I got a liquidated stock one in July for a few quid less than that.
Since then they have gone up in price almost weekly.
That seems a great price for a lovely watch.
Are you aware that it is a large piece and wears quite large. I have thick wrists so it looks fine on me.
I love mine.

thumbup That's nice. I like a small, subtle amount of contrasting gold on a silver watch. The strap suits it.

Yeah I'm aware it's very big, it should be fine on my wrist.

I would love for it to drop below the £300 mark! I'm not sure if that will happen now considering it's price rises.

In a dilemma..

Wasn't planning on buying a watch today, but I've got one of these incoming. It's a re-make of the 1917 Ingersoll Midget. Quartz unfortunately, but I'm not so anti quartz when it's only a little sub-dial hand ticking away.

I'm interested to see how the case looks as Timex have left it unpolished for the vintage look.

They are on eBay for around £100 coming from Japan as it is a Japanese only release. Hopefully it will get through customs ok.

That's an interesting-looking watch. (For the avoidance of doubt, I mean that in a positive way - I like it!)
