Seeing this picture reminded me of a question I'd meant to ask before. Is there a 'maintenance pack'-type thing with all the little useful tools and gadgets to change straps and batteries and so on that anyone one can recommend? I certainly don't need the full horologist's kit but a cheap-ish basic pack for dummies might be useful. Bobberoo99 said:
A great selection there Dibble, especially as you "found them in a drawer"!!!
Love that Geckota!! The Bulova looks like it's an Accutron, at the time the most accurate watch money could buy, a fabulous thing!!!
Strictly speaking, I found them in a cupboard, in the tin previously described.Love that Geckota!! The Bulova looks like it's an Accutron, at the time the most accurate watch money could buy, a fabulous thing!!!
That Geckota hadn’t sold after a few days. I’ve not checked the site yet today. But then, £160, while not being a ton of money, is basically another Seiko and more importantly, about a tenth of my “affordable grail”, the Sinn 856 UTC. Or 857 UTC. I’ve not made my mind up yet (same watch, just one has a bezel, one doesn’t). So I’ve not pulled the trigger yet. It’s nice the Helm is getting some wrist time as my daily driver.
God, I hate myself now. I’m off to scrub myself down in the back garden with some industrial cleanser, a fire hose and a yard brush.

Got a bracelet with screws joining the links? Buy the single driver you need.
You'll spend more I'm the long run, but will end up with decent versions of the tools you actually need, which can be used on a watch of any value.
Most of the kits contain stuff of questionable quality and will often be full of bits you'll never need. For example, few people will ever need the tool to remove / replace the hands on their watch!
That's ok, we all like different things. I'm not keen on all of yours . I wasn't sure about it at first, but it grows on you.
I usually go for vintage styled watches, but there was something about this modern take on a retro design that I thought I'd take a chance on. I got it after I saw bingybongy's calendar watch a few pages back.
Have another, even more vibrant photo!

Does that one give up being a multi calendar in 2031 as well.
Not that I mind much as
A. The text is so small I can't read it
B. I'll be dead.

I think it's the colours, if it was plain I think I'd like it more, don't worry I don't like all of mine either!!!

For those who are wondering how they work, you can see the Sun lines up with the yellow 3 and the 19 (year) lines up with the green Nov.
This shows you the calendar for this month. If you want to see next months calendar you move the 19 until it sits under the Dec. By matching the year to the month you can see a calendar for any month up to the end of 2059.
After 2059 you would need to know what day the 1st day of the month falls on to see the calendar for that month.

Incoming! Raketa Kopernik, new old stock with papers. Very pleased at £42 plus postage.
Should arrive sometime this week.

I had a black one recently and regret selling it... As much as I didn't like to wear it, as it wore far too small for me, it is such an interesting watch and so different to anything else.
Well done grabbing a NOS with papers for that price!

Couple of lovely watches there!!!
Massively pleased with this little Seiko 5. It’s running at +8/day which is well within spec.
The blue dial has a nice little sunburst effect in bright sunlight.
Heck, even the bracelet is nice! Alternate polished and brushed lugs, only a pressed clasp but it’s comfortable.
With the introduction of the ‘Superman’ style Seiko 5 range I reckon there are bargains to be had on the older style of watch.
