From what I've just read on tinternet Chinese "Aquaracer" homage with a Sea-Gul movement, all stainless construction, good quality, but not outstanding, but then it's not expensive in the slightest, seriously considering one right now as I really like the look of it at £52!!!
I dithered a bit over getting the Daytona - the alternative was this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32945601992.html?s...

This has the same (brilliant) movement but is in the aquaracer format that impressed a few folk earlier. It's larger though, at 43mm and I though that would be a bit big so chose the Daytona.

There's lots with the VK64 movement too - sub dials at 6,9 and 12 but I prefer the 3,6,9 layout due to symmetry.

The Pagani Design Sub homage has been well received, but it's 43mm, so if you're like me and have, erm, elegant and delicate wrists, it'll look a bit daft.

I'm tempted too. I'm currently in Poland and I was browsing the Rolex store, which merely confirmed both my reluctance to pay big money for watches and my lack of affection for the design and bling. I'm obviously a proper cheapskate because I like the Chinese tat!
The only acceptable cheap (ish) Chronograph is the Bulova Lunar Pilot, and that’s over thread budget.

HOWEVER

It is absolutely bloody fantastic, and as I paid for mine in part with profits from buying and selling on watches in thread budget I’m allowed to mention it.

Lovely watch. I wasn't very happy when I looked at it and it was too big for my weedy wrist.
I will be going to see a Ti Chopard Mille Miglia next week though.

Been wearing my mako XL since receiving it on Xmas day. Really like this one and had quite a few comments about it which I've not had with a watch before.

best price for a Bulova LP
The best price in the Uk last year was £336 at H. Samuels, plus 10% further discount so about £300, IIRC.

I got mine in-store in October for £336, down from £450, although I had missed the offer the salesman honoured the older price. He was unaware of the history of the Bulowa re-issue and I think just got bored with me telling him all about it, and gave me that price to get me to go away.

I think I have read that they are available in the US for a smidge over $300.

I think it's the one watch that should be allowed to be discussed on this thread above budget, as a) it's a tenth the price of the Omega Speedmaster, b) it retains value well, and c) it has unbelievable and genuine watch history as a real Moon Watch.

Personally I think the Bulova is a little overrated, its not a bad watch but its huge and bulky on wrist , the pushers aren't great and the bracelet is average. Its just a little hyped as is often the case, as a £200-£250 watch its ok (What I paid for mine in 2018) ,but now they are getting in on for £350-£400 i think there are better out there

Dan Henry do some nice chronographs and they are worth a look and come in a bit cheaper than the Bulova as an alternative for the classic look without looking similar to specific models

I’m looking to move on a few sub £200s and get something else and this is on the list along with longines conquest and the Hamilton Khaki King. At the moment the all black one is £285 delivered, but the strap size seems a bit narrow to the width of the watch but I’ve only seen it through the glass, not tried it on.

I treated myself to this for everyday. On Watchshop down from £300 to £100.80. It's a solid bit of kit!

I really like the Edifice range. I bought one, a white dial one, (my personal favourite, always been a sucker for white dials). Unfortunately it also had silver hands and I was completely unable to tell the time. I gave it to a mate who is a tree surgeon and he's worn it every day for the past two years, still going strong.
I like the one above a lot.

Another Edifice fan, got myself one for nothing as I'd been awarded a chunk of points at work which I converted to Amazon vouchers.

Yours looks considerably more robust than mine though!!! smile

I've been considering buying myself something special for my 50th birthday this year, I'd found a really nice Bulova futuro for £380 which I'm well aware is over budget but as we've demonstrated already we can be flexible on budget for certain things smile well one watch brand that I've always admired is Tissot, elegant and refined with a great history, today I found one which I much prefer to the Bulova and seeing as it's on offer Mrs Bobbers has given me permission to buy it now, some nearly 8 months early!!! It's still £290 down from £345, once I've got it I'll put up some pictures!!!!

Tissot make some cracking watches.

Look for their Powermatic 80 movement if you can (probably over budget, but a lovely thing).

I have a PRC 200 quartz Chronograph, bought lightly used, within budget.

That's a nice looking Tissot, for this purchase budget wasn't a consideration and I seriously contemplated a TAG Aquaracer but felt it was too similar to my Citizen divers watch I have, I was browsing different styles and the Tissot i'm going for was so different from everything else I have, plus it's a perpetual calendar, a deployment clasp and a Tissot none of which I have in my collection!!

I had a Tissot like that. Must have been a Friday night job. Spent six months away under warranty being repaired. Steamed up constantly, sweep hand fell off, hour markers fell off and ate batteries.

ALL CHANGE!!!
Remember when bus conductors used to shout this? Well that's kind of what's happened this morning, after my earlier post saying I was getting myself a Tissot I went browsing the various watch and jewelry sits and shops and discovered the original Bulova Futuro I really liked last year reduced from £329 to £180...………….so I bought one!!! smile

Yeah, they have a mixed reputation but mine has been fine.

I don’t wear it though since the arrival of the Bulova Lunar Pilot so it’ll get moved on in the spring, unless either of my lads are keen on it.
