Bulova do some decent looking chrono's. Even Tissot have a few in the Mid £200's when discounted.

The 2 Rotary's you have shown are relying on the Old Rotary brand image. In reality nothing more than a branded (Rotary) chinese made watch. Which if unbranded would be well under £40. Rotary do still make some higher end stuff that is Swiss Made and some have Swiss Movement too and that is sold under the Rotary Les Originales label.

Looking for some opinions, or a steer in the right direction. I'm fairly happy with where my little collection is, but I am missing a nice dress chronograph. I'm looking at this kind of thing:

https://www.firstclasswatches.co.uk/rotary-mens-mo...

https://www.fhinds.co.uk/watches/mens-watches/Rota...

https://www.lilienthal.berlin/uk/chronograph-dark-...

But nothing has jumped out at me yet to make my buy. I'm looking to spend top thread budget, rather than something £50 or so. I don't even know if I want gold or rose gold - but definitely a brown leather strap.

Any pointers?
I do like the CW chronos

This is nice

Apologies for the budget busting example!

I've got on the Redwood field watch today, just a cheap quartz but I really like the design and overall look of the watch.

The original rrp was towards the top of our budget but I paid about £30 which feels a more realistic valuation.

Getting the itch to buy again. I am tempted by a Steeldive or Heimdallr diver. Around £105 to £140. But then part of me thinkswhy buy a homage when you can get the real thing a Citizen NY0040 at £169?

Obviously the Steeldive or Heimdallr arebetter specced with a hacking movement but there is something about an honest classic design.

I've got an automatic citizen diver that a few of us on here have, it's a pretty big and has a nice weight to it.

I've also got a heimdallr frogman homage, it's not as common as some of the other heimdallr and it does have a different dial so not a straight copy.

I like both but if I had to choose one over the other is go with the frogman.

If you do decide to go Steeldrive, in my opinion, the Willard is fantastic. I bought one and was really impressed... so impressed I also bought the Steeldive Sumo homage. Not so impressed with the Sumo - for the price it’s fine and it keeps decent time but it hasn’t impressed me like the Willard - that one is a fantastic watch for the price.

I think the Willard compares favourably with a Seiko SRP but the Sumo homage doesn’t quite live up to that, whereas a Seiko Sumo just has that bit extra.

All my opinions, I’m no expert!

Another vote for the Steeldive Willard, I have the blue version and I think it's far better made than my Seiko Hulk!!!

CCJ I have the same Rotary Chronospeed!!! thumbup
As for dress watches I don't think you can go far wrong with a Bulova, I have three of them!!!

I have to assume that the whole series of Eaglemoss military watches that are on eBay at a fiver a go have been debated here already?

Just ordered a couple (with the encouragement of a couple of cocktails)... Tell me my ten quid is well invested!

Cheers, some fun stuff on this thread. More fun than the 'other' thread. Thankfully weaned myself off the trophy watch thing a few years ago, far more sport to be had buying things that might be great or might be chocolate. Will update on these when they arrive (assuming I actually bought them. Who knows?)

Yes we all had one at some point.

I recently put my fifty fathoms version on eBay on a 99p start and got over £20 for it!

Oh and they are the noisiest damn tickers I've ever heard!

My ‘SBS’ one started to dissolve, then packed in, the Russian tank one was fine though. They are a bit of fun, prices yo-about quite a bit.
