Ok guys I've currently got my citizen automatic diver on eBay and it's not doing badly so would I be daft to buy the same watch but the black faced version?
I have quite a few blue faced watches but I've not got a black faced one in the collection.

While I do like that, I agree with the bezel being too busy, at that price point it'd have to be an Orient Mako for me:I have quite a few blue faced watches but I've not got a black faced one in the collection.

I always found Invicta to be easily available and good value. However, I don't own one. Why?
I can't get on with the branding on the 9 o'clock side of the case!!! Do you also notice, when you see reviews or store pics, they seem to never show it too...
Is it just me or do others find that branding annoying?

I quite agree; fortunately the 1953 is unbranded on the side of the case. Even the puppy likes it. I can't get on with the branding on the 9 o'clock side of the case!!! Do you also notice, when you see reviews or store pics, they seem to never show it too...

I like the 1953. I have the branded version. But it's the cyclops I dislike more than the branding on the side of the case. Seems to be a scratch magnet and a day/date isn't an essential feature for me anyway. My Vostoks are all no date as are my Alkins. One less thing to set when getting the watch out the box.
Latest addition to the stable. A Citizen NY0040. Off Ebay atjust over half the £200 limit.
Always a gamble on Ebay but happy with this one. Easy bezel action. Running about +4 seconds a day. Lume still readable at 5am this morning. With the rubber strap it feels really light at 95g compared to the 170ish of my Orient Kano on a bracelet. No noticeable scratches on face or case.
Handwinds and while not officially hacking the second hand can be stopped with a touch of reverse pressure in time setting mode.
Flaws. Being picky it isn't an original Citizen strap but not anissue at price paid.

That Invicta is about perfect spec for me. I hate this thread.
What, well-sized, subtle branding, vintage feel, rugged movement and genuine dive ability for £100?It is the best watch they make.
Very tempted but only just had a new watch delivered today, maybe I'll "check" again next week

For every one nice watch Invicta make they turn out a dozen of these monsters. If they separated the two parts of the company, one side into sensible watches and the other side into these daft concoctions and gave them different names I'm sure they would sell more watches overall as many people don't want to be associated with the daft stuff regardless of how well made the others are.
These were actually not sold out earlier today, but now they are

Now considering a SRPD53K1 as its apparent replacement model (which looks more like an SKX but can't be considered a replacement for that with only 100m WR)

Wouldn't pay £250 but seen a few places selling around £200 and there is certainly scope for them to be found well under once they've been out a while longer.
The Citizen Promaster Divers mentioned above also look like cracking value though.
