Hello Chaps,

Not sure if this has been covered on the forum, but I've been reliably informed that Patek will be bumping up the prices of all of their watches by a massive 20% come the 1st of March, I've been told by my contacts here in the UK and across Europe, so I'm assuming this is a global price increase.

Just a heads up if any of you guys are thinking of 'pulling the trigger' on a Patek, if it's in stock probably best to do now rather than later.

Unfortunately for me i'm still on a waiting list for the white faced Nautilus which I've been told by my AD will be available 'any time after March' (coincidence I think not) so looks like I'll have to swallow the increase.

interesting to see what effect it'll have on the 2nd hand Nautilus market?

It'll mean I still can't afford one.

The 20% price increase is as far as I know only on certain SS Models and not the whole Patek range. It is a targeted price rise on those models that sell for well over list on the gray market. Patek reason that if they sell at that price on the gray market then they should price them like that in the first place. Other Patek models are not selling as well and are not subject to the price rise. The targeted price rises apply to the 5711 and 5712 which rise by 20% on 1st March. The price rise certainly applies to the US and UK and I assume Europe.

20% is extraordinary by any standards I mean, how many industries/brands could get away with such an increase?

Of course, Patek are in vogue at the moment (Conor McGregor is doing his best to cheapen the brand), so they must be fairly confident that they can implement this without too much outcry from their customers.

I'm glad I ticked that particular box seven years ago and can concentrate on other things that aren't in such demand.

It is only on the steel 5711 and 5712.
The email arrived shortly before I visited to enquire about something (not a 5711/5712) and I was shown it.

Not according to the email I got from one of my Patek ADs. The 20% price rise only applies to 5711/1A and 5712/1A

Interesting, though I see the logic based on the grey market.

At what point does the list price become too high for a SS watch? At the point they can't sell them clearly but as someone on the list for a 5711 i wonder if I might consider some alternatives.

The speculation is this is why Rolex are cutting back production/supply of their 'Professional Range' of watches for 2018, with also a rumoured similar price hike, for similar reasons.

Rolex also informed AD's this week that the WG BLRO GMT2 was no longer available to order.

I agree.

I'm keen on a 5711 but grey market they're £28k. I like the 5726 also, but grey market they're closer to £38k.

Makes a 5205 look like a bargain! Class watch in my opinion. And that's before we get into Lange etc. I guess a fair few people in this price bracket will have both!
