I'll point out again the quality issue I mentioned...Parnis feel cheap with noisy movements, fall apart and mist up. Steinharts do not.

As an aside, I'd not really made the connection between the Ocean Black DLC and the Rolex sub, simply because I don't think Rolex do a black version. I just saw it as more of a generic diver's style watch...
We have different experiences. I openly accept that a Steinhart is a better watch than a Parnis, but it costs about 6 times as much. I have several Parnis watches, and to be honest the value for money they offer is quite amazing. I'm convinced that if they cost £250 instead of £80, watch enthusiasts would like them more. However, Parnis watches aren't made to please enthusiasts, as their business plan is to sell high volume at a low margin. Like any manufacturer they have different levels of specification. For example, the cheaper watches may have inferior straps, mineral windows and Mingzhu movements, whilst the better ones have quality bracelets, sapphire windows, and Miyota movements. I am constantly looking for brands that offer the designs and quality I want at the price I can afford, and it's hard to find anything that can keep up with Parnis. That said, I'm not going to stop looking !!

I had a Parnis Portuguese which was a lovely looking thing, and really not expensive. But when I wore it, the rotor sounded like a ratchet spanner.

Yes, you get this on the Chinese movements, but not the Miyota. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand others can be annoyed by it. Simple, just take the rota off and hand wind it.

As far as I'm aware parnis isn't actually any one company/factory in full. I think the movement they get in from seagull, and maybe have some factories providing people with the case / parts, but they're all assembled by a range of "companies". Hence why sometimes you see a certain parnis on eBay with various prices from different sellers as it's built by different people. Again probably the reason why you've had different experience than others as you've potentially found one of the better builders. A lot of people on certain forums have actually a recommended list of parnis providers list of ones to avoid based on QC experience. Very much a case of Mr Chan from ABC road takes pride in what he does and has the experience to do a good job, whereas Mr Wong from XYZ lane doesn't really care and just builds as many and as quickly as he can so he can go on a pissup with some mates on a Friday.

Well put, and quite possibly very true. For reference I use a site called mywatchcode. Every watch I have bought has been excellent. I changed the straps on a couple, but that isn't a big deal. I had a problem with one, which was possibly my fault, and they paid postage both ways and sorted it for me. They actually have three movement grades, Mingzhu, Seagull, and Miyota. To be fair they are all accurate, although the auto Seagull and Mingzhu are a tad noisy. The finish and spec for the money is nothing short of amazing.

This arrived yesterday.

I ordered the automatic version but they sent me the Quartz one.
Asked for a return, but they just fully refunded it biggrin.

Profit!!

As said before and on various posts about this watch, it's astonishing the finish they can do at this price point.
It looks exactly like a Royal Oak, even up close. If you swap out the dial it could pass for one were it not for the clasp and movement.
Mind-boggling.

Have you compared it to a Royal Oak? Or just pictures of one?

Yes, I have looked at these, but already have 3 Parnis PAM homages. I believe they are a quartz, what is the quality like ?
Yes quartz, the quality compared to anything else I own is pure rubbish, but it is a £25 watch.
When hacking the minute hand flops about like a clubbed seal, so you can set it to some minutes within a range of 5. The seconds hand does the same, jumps when pushing the crown in.

I am surprised the chronograph actually works, they eat batteries once every 18 months, which is too short for me.

Still bought 2 of them for giggles, ideal work watch if a customer gets out of hand, you can club them to death with it. And due to the build ‘quality’ it’ll disintegrate leaving no murder weapon behind, all good no evidence

biggrin What I though.

As for the pictures, two of my colleagues have Royal Oaks. One of them the regular this "homage" apes, which he got from his father when he turned 18, the other one, older chap who's done really well himself got a rose gold one on a rubber strap.

If you put it next to the one it apes, it's really uncanny. You can tell that one is better finished, but not putting them next to eachother you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Tbh I have a number of watches and I love my SKX, which I think represents one of the best quality watches for the money. In terms of build, this is better. Mainly the bracelet.

One thing that did stand out was the absence of lume. But compared to the real thing, it's really not that much it misses out on.

Like I said, it was a bit mind blowing for us. I'll see if I can take pictures of both but there'll be nothing to make out from them tbh.
I'm sad it's not the auto movement as I'm pretty sure the movement shot will deffo give it away (the movement on my colleague's is too well finished I'd guess).
