Auto-Quartz Tissot
Discussion
I have recently acquired a Tissot Autoquartz PR100 like the below. This was a retirement gift to my father around 17 years ago. Unfortunately he passed away a few years later and my mum recently passed it on to me.
It seems that the internal capacitor is fubar and having read all I can find they appear to be obsolete. There are some reports of folk fitting a rechargeable MT920 cell with success. I wondered if anyone here may have some experience of this watch type.
To be honest it's not my usual type of thing but it was my dad's and I'd love to have it working alongside his old Seiko Sportmatic (his 21st birthday present) and his somewhat battered Seamaster Quartz.
Any advice gratefully received.

Ideally, the first step is to try replacing the capacitor. I can still get them from my suppliers.
It’s more complicated than a battery change, so unless you have the gear and the expertise, it’s not recommended.
If you are capable, I would happily supply you a capacitor to try.
Otherwise, if you send it to me, I can do it for you and freshen up the watch a little at the same time.
Give me a shout if you want to chat.

I had almost given up hope of getting my Tissot PR100 repaired until I came across this thread and saw the post by Rodintee. Like him I was able to send my watch to RiggaTheMighty who was able to repair it for me! So a huge shout out from me as well for repairing it so well and at reasonable cost.

I bought an invicta that had a similar movement (back when I didn't know any better). I think that it's the same setup as the Citizen eco-drive that uses an automatic style pendulum to charge a battery. Have you contacted Tissot about it?
Do you mean Seiko Kinetic? Citizen use solar panels.Hey Rigga is this still something you do? My grandads pr100 was left to me in inheritence a few years ago and is now no longer working

Yes I can still do these.
Obviously, once the lockdown is over and I can buy parts from my supplier again.
If you email me through here I can discuss further.
Hi, newbie here located in Denmark (originally from London).
I have a PR200 Autoquartz (not PRC) that I bought in 2003. Until a couple of weeks ago it kept perfect time, gaining about a second a week. However it seems that the capacitor has now given up.
I sent it to the Swatch Group service centre in Copenhagen but after examining it they returned it saying that the spare parts are no longer available.
I've read on here that it is possible to obtain a replacement capacitor, can anyone help as I'm loath to bin the watch as it is my favourite and for its age it's in good condition.

Best to message Joe through his company FB page.
Unsure how to reach Richard: I know where he works but I dont know whether he wants to take calls at work.
I have an email address for him (he revived a vintage Omega for me) but looks like he hasn't been on here for nearly a year.Unsure how to reach Richard: I know where he works but I dont know whether he wants to take calls at work.
