But they’re a lot more watchy for only a bit more money.
A bit more "watchy" Watches are (arguably) far more expensive now, so I would suggest that others followed suit, and bought a quartz movent piece later.

Love it, I know what you mean but I am a bit of a pleb when it comes to fine timepieces.
Also, like anything in life it depends on your viewpoint, some will see "flash bd" watch (if they notice at all) or say its probably a fake etc, come on here and "Oh dear, its a quartz" like its a cracker novelty.
My kids went to a nice school, got some sniffiness off some about that, then at the other end, speak to people with kids at even more expensive schools "Oh, they go there, never mind" sort of thing.
Im happy with it, wife has already said it looks too big (its 41mm)
You've bought the same watch that I bought just over two years ago, for pretty much exactly the same reasons! One day I'll get around to getting a link taken out of the strap so it's not loose.Love it, I know what you mean but I am a bit of a pleb when it comes to fine timepieces.

Its so easy, dont need to take it in, took me five mins.
Brand died for me around 1999. Just seemed that every IT geek that picked up some extra hours working on the millennium bug went out and bought a TAG. 20 years on it still has the feel of a watch bought by someone that’s given zero thought to it (despite being a possibly good thing). BMW M3 of watches.

I work in IT, drive a BMW and now have a TAG, not claiming to be special though, given it a lot of thought as wanted one for years but been busy raising three kids, only me earning for years but now I can afford to treat myself.I think the problem is people see stuff and assume it’s not been thought about and was acquired easily, on a whim, all those fancy cars on leases, the”executive” homes but most stuff doesn’t happen like that, there is usually a lot of effort behind the scenes.
I pay out more each month on uni stuff for the kids than this watch cost, but I got something for me, something I have had my eye on since I was 20, I am just not that discerning !
But I am enjoying my new watch, it makes me happy, box ticked, it’s a nice shiny thing.
I didn’t get any of the Y2K action as was at the Police, so did the work but didn’t have the massive money, but had a 5 year old, three year old and a baby, my mate did, he bought a Fiat Coupe Turbo cash.
The problem with the Rolex/Tag/BMW thing is that they get the reputation for being very good by... being very good (at one point or another).
So they get a good name for themselves, and of course people that aren't "in the know" start buying them because they are bought by people that actually do their research.
This can lead to all sorts of complications: manufacturer can get lazy (Blackberry, TAG), start designing their goods towards the new bigger customer base as opposed to their initial core audience (BMW M, Apple), or just up the price "Because people will buy it anyway" (Apple, Rolex).
But, it does start off with them making seriously good stuff.
I'm not really in the know about TAG, only that they made some questionable quality quartz watches at one point.

I have a TAG F1...Bought new years and years ago. Fair to say it's had a hard life. Nowadays it rarely see's the light of day yet it still looks as good as new and works as it should. In 10 or so years the only thing it's needed was a new battery and pressure seal. I could dig it out now, set the time and it will be good to go.
In fact, I bought my Mrs a Tag on Saturday......She's completely over the moon and that's with no real care about the brand or heritage. She loves the look and I like the quality. Everyones happy.

I have a Carrera and a Monaco, 13 and 11 years old. I love wearing them and have never had any problems. They will both be going to Rigga the Mighty soon for servicing.
I’ve also got a Heuer British Rail timekeepers watch.
Hopefully next on the list is a Silverstone!
Apologies for the poor quality-and wrong way round-photo.

Bit unrelated to the thread, but since their is a tag thread up; can anyone list some of the 39mm automatic chronograph models. I love this size & type, they no longer sell it with the cheaper calibres though, only as their heritage Calibre 18, which I do love the look of but is somewhat out of my price range (1000-1500ish). So far the only model I can find is the CV2113 which sold in the mid 00s. Would much rather a 39mm than settle for one of the 41mm in their current range.

BR timekeeper’s watch? Are you certain, as it is a 1/100th of a minute type. Usually used for industrial process timing and very useful for rallyists as 1/100th pieces make average speed calculations easier.
I bought it off a pal who deals in railwayana and that’s what he said it was. This is the back case. I’m happy to be corrected though.
Was funny the other day, almost masonic, was in a meeting with a project manager and he was wearing a jumper, he clocked my watch and next thing I know there is a shiny Tag on display from under the jumper
Nothing was said, just low end posh watch posturing !
Jesus, is that the world I have bought into
Is there a watch league, I think I must be in the Cats protection league equivalent.

Watches are funny old things, especially in modern times as the reality is most of us don't really need to wear one as we've all got the time on our phones etc. Having said that, I've always enjoyed have a watch on my wrist. Tag Heuer is a brand that I've always associated with, as I was lucky enough to get a 2000 series many years ago for my 21st. I also love F1, so the brands association with the sport appeals to me. I've recently sold an old F1 (blue face 35mm) and purchased a slightly more modern 41mm F1 (see pic). I love it just like I love my £5 Casio and my grandad's old Ingersoll. Haters gonna hate, but as long as you like it, that's all that matters. No BMWs in this household, but my best mate has a 323, what does that make me ?!
Ps - nice watch OP
