Still got the TAG Heuer F1 I bought in the late 80's, although it's not seem much wrist time for a long time, it was my daily wearer for many years and seems tiny now but it still sits ticking away in the watch box, think I paid about £180 for it new including the optional steel bracelet. rotate
Just bought another F1 30 years later, all be it the Aston Martin 'special'. paperbag
Quite a few in the F1 range with the colour TAG logo and I quite like them, although my main weakness is for original Heuer's, ie pre TAG. wink

My contact came up with a couple but one has a red face which is a bit garish, the other one has a black face which I like but it has a black bezel.

No prices mentioned, not in a rush, want to get the right one.

Am guessing the F1 range is quartz ?

Nothing wrong with a Tag! My wife bought me a Monza when we got married in 2005.

Not all of them, some use the Calibre 5 or Calibre 16 Chronograph Automatic movement.

I've got a TAG James Hunt F1 bought at FoS a couple of years back which is one of the few watches gone up in value! Happy days. Won't sell it though.

I really like the Monaco's too. Vintage Heuer seem to be high value.

Thanks! They're still available second-hand.

Part of the reason for me liking it definitely wasn't that I really liked the Opel Monza when I was a kid and this is probably the closest I'll get to having one. getmecoat

I am a big watch fan and my understanding is that the perhaps outdated view of them, is that they charge a lot for a nice case but chuck in a mass produced movement.

So more bling than substance essentially. I think they are changing things and moving away from that image slowly, but as others have suggested, just buy what makes you happy.

I do like some of the Monaco variants, but if it were my money it would be directed to the Omega option you mentioned. The 2nd hand values are generally quite poor, so it is unlikely to be an investment, but it sounds like something you have to do.

I have this on right now and love it.

It gets more compliments than any other watch I own and I think is a bargain. Put 'Hublot' on the dial and it would be 10x the price (I know they are related brands now).

Go for what you like and sod everyone else.
Snap. I have the Titanium version. Love it.

I don’t give a rats what people think of it on here. I like it so end of. cool

Nothing wrong with them if you like it.y first “nice” watch was a Tag 2000 second hand. Wish I hadn’t sold it to Watchfinder!

I have a latest model F1 Chronograph I may be about to sell if you’re in the market for a quartz.

The colour logo used to denote that the model was quartz, and non red/green logo indicates the model is an automatic.

I’ve had an Aquaracer chrono since 2007 and it’s never missed a beat, but it’s had a fairly tough life and is now wearing its age so I’ve been looking at a calibre 5 aquaracer with ceramic bezel as a replacement.

My 2000 series is an automatic and has a red and green logo.

His thread is helping restore my faith in the frequenters of this site. As an owner of a Formula 1 bought by my wife for my 30th last year, I had some trepidation about clicking on this thread.

If you like them, then don't worry what others say.

Doesn’t seem quite that clear cut any more, while all the Autos appear to have a mono logo, so do some of the Quartz, my Aston Edition is quartz and that has a mono logo. scratchchin

I read it somewhere and from my perusal of the range at the time it seemed to ring fairly true. A bit of a shame that the red/green logo isn’t more prevalent, as I rather like it.

Huge fan of the retro branded Heuer pieces, not so much the Tag branded stuff.
