One of my watches retails at over £30k. It goes in the plastic tray with everything else. Strange thread...
Absolutely...I have a few expensive watches and in the end, its just stuff. (I am quite happy to put an expensive car on a track also- otherwise I would just look at the thing)_.. Once you get paranoid about your stuff there is no end to it.

Stick it on one of the pockets of your carry on. Your bag will get through the x ray as fast you will. There's a million cameras there so not likely that anyone will pinch it.

What I do with mine (Rolex,Tudor or Omega) is take them off and put them in the tray at the bottom and then put something over them, be it a bag or hat or something.

Cheers all.

As I said, I appreciate it's an odd one but if I'd did lead to some discussion and good suggestions. Personally I just need to be organized and probably have a soft bag to put it in.

Deep down I know it's not going to get lost, stolen or damaged but it doesn't stop you thinking about it, particularly in all the different countries I travel to.

The minor dilemma can be solved by using one of my cheaper watches as my traveler.

I usually pop my Sekonda into a lead-linen velvet case containing mating scorpions, just to be sure.

I leave my watch on my wrist, doesn’t create an issue with the walk through. Left my belt on in error recently and that didn’t either. The scanner pulls random checks very frequently so even if you are metal free it still goes off. I fly loads.
Yep, watch stays on the my wrist as well, never been asked to remove either, even when flying to-from USA in recent years, and not needed to remove either at work on weekly basis when going through staff search.

It would take massive balls for a thief to pinch your watch from the plastic tray in the security check area of an airport. Lots of security, lots of cameras, must have had positive I’d check before entering the area.

If your so paranoid about your watch suggest you buy a cheap piece for travelling.
A woman at work lost her full Pandora and London links from her security tray. Never retrieved after security, phone calls etc etc. Done nothing really.

I take mine off but put it in my bag. I regularly get pulled to the side though because I forget to remove that stupid ninja wallet tool I got as a present.

Mine stays on my wrist, I always wear long sleeved shirts. I don't often get stopped going through the scanner.

It's always absolutely chaotic at security and despite all the staff/cameras - I'm not remotely surprised to hear of thefts occasionally happening and no meaningful action being taken.

Some people are I think a little naive.

I don't take the expensive watches on beach holidays (scratches) or anywhere I'd worry about having my arm removed for a watch!

My Nixon or homages are low value and good enough to travel with.

Do people feel the same about their holiday cash?

If your £500 came in a little see though plastic bag or simply a note band, would you happily leave it perched on the top of your bag for all to see?

Wonder how long until someone decries my £500 and takes 5K on holiday, just to cover the tips of course rolleyeslaugh

In the queue I tend to remove everything (no sniggering please) and put it in to my jacket, so loose change, belt, phone, watch, just to try and make the process quicker.

I almost inevitably have a jacket as I'm either flying from / to the UK, and thus the weather probably is / will be st hehe

For me, everything goes in my bag. Belt, watch, phone. Only the bag, laptop and iPad are out in the tray.

Only time I’ve been pulled in the last year of flying twice a week was when I accidentally left a bottle of Tabasco sauce in my bag from lunch :-)
I fly every week - watch, wallet, coins, car key - all in side pocket of laptop bag. Retrieve the watch as i get to departure lounge - I only have a paupers CW C60 though, nothing that expensive :-)

just pop watch and wallet in a little cloth bag
Then a light fingered scumbag can lift both simultaneously!

TBH, mine always go in the tray along with a £2.5k laptop. With all that security, cameras etc etc, I think its highly unlikely that stuff would get stolen.

A quote from A mag reporting on a gum ball rally. Bentley owner stopped by customs and asked why he had £10,000 in cash in his car and the reply was "because I am rich"

I have worn a Tag F1, Omega Aqua Terra, Moon watch and Rolex SeaDweller through places like Heathrow, Gatwick, JFK, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne and have never been asked to take my watch off, always my belt and on a few occasions my footwear (if wearing boots).
