Great to see.
I had a 1950s explorer that I sent to Rolex for a service, not realising that they would replace the dial, hands and glass.
I am over it now, I think.
Dear God, I’d be livid if that happens. I bought it from Nic Green a while back and he’s the only one who touches it. He gets it. I had a 1950s explorer that I sent to Rolex for a service, not realising that they would replace the dial, hands and glass.
I am over it now, I think.

I’m rather concerned about this with my sub when the time comes - I presume I can request that no parts get refreshed/polished if I take it for an official service?
Yes you can and I always specify no cosmetic work now. However I'd use an independent now if at all possible.
Although parts restrictions don't make that as easy as it could be.

They can however insist certain parts are needed. MIne was initally going to Rolex for service but actually sent it to Christian Dannemann yesterday for him to carry out the work. Jayho said:
Absolutely love these. Was looking at them a few years back but decided not to buy, which I regret now. Think they could have been had for around the £250 mark at one point, now they're into £300-400. Can't bring myself to buy one knowing that it was cheaper.
I really fancy a 035 but already own a 033. I bought it before they were discontinued for £180 brand new so £360 for a nearly identical watch seems a bit too far. NDA said:
Interesting strap - do you have some more pics ... not seen one before.
It's the bracelet the watch originally came on, a Gay Frères. GF were pre-eminent bracelet suppliers to Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, UG, Tissot, Heuer and Zenith amongst others as well as being a jewellery designer/producer.
The ladder design was unique to Zenith and as you can probably tell, this was in the period 1969/71, so the styling is a little Jason King but I think it suits the watch well.

I've never seen a strap like that - and it's satisfying that you actually know exactly what it is!
I like it.

Rocking this today. I'm still very undecided about it, the quality/finishing definitely isn't quite there compared to a Grand Seiko and I'm not sure it's good enough for the price. That said, I just love the design so so much, it's a fabulous looking watch.
Having wanted an original 6159-7001 for years, I immediately pre-ordered one of these when they were first announced. I returned mine to Jura for a refund. Just didn't cut the mustard for the price for me personally.
