Sorry but I think that's crossed the line for this thread.

A 'Homage' is a watch made by another manufacturer which will look like a well known Brand/Model. The watch in question here, is clearly identified as a Patek, so not a homage.
However..............the shockingly poor quality of its finish may have even the novice watch enthusiast question it's authenticity.

Haha, rattled a cage there!
I am a normal guy, with a normal job. I live in a normal house and drive a normal car... If I had a genuine Patek, people would question the authenticity anyway as who in their right mind would spend £50+K on a bloody watch!?!?

I understand people work hard for their money, as do I, I just can't fathom how anyone can justify £50, £100 or £250K on a watch when there's starving children in the world... Just my opinion... I'll quite happily wear a fake watch that keeps perfect time, is waterproof so I don't need to take it of for the pool. If I do break it, I wony want to jump off a bridge as I've just spent what could be a life changing amount of money for several families, on a watch. That I wear under my cuff in my shirt. That no one can see and even if they could, 99% of the population couldn't discern from a £200 sieko?

Just my opinion like...

So why not just buy a £200 'Sieko'?

I like watches but I'm with you on the mega expensive ones. However, you're supposing that people with 250k watches don't give generously to charity when they almost certainly do. Well the legit ones anyway. It is sick though, what we spent on stuff in the West, when there's abject poverty in the world.

Seems like the thread’s taken an odd turn?

What’s an acceptable amount to spend on a watch now relative to family earnings or whatever?

If fake watches are made by organisations not paying tax and involved in organised crime, maybe that’s even worse for poor families?

What are wages and wealth inequality reducing factors like in the fake Patek factory compared to foundations like Rolex etc?

Either way, fake watches are always unpopular in a watch forum, it’s not really surprising.

I don't think you rattled my cage, I was just trying to clear up some misinformation.
You're the one who posted a picture of a fake Patek on a watch forum without any qualification on its origin, and then tried to defend it's authenticity. That seems a bit contradictory to your claims of wearing it discreetly and not wanting to be associated with the expensive watch market on moral grounds.

All this is completely irrelevant. I don't think fake watches should be posted on this thread. If at all. I'm surprised the moderator, whoever it is, hasn't jumped in. There's a sticky on the computer thread about posting fake software and in my opinion there should be something similar on this thread. Homages are one thing but that Patek is fake and probably illegal. I suspect you posted it to wind up people. That's all very well but if it leads to others showing their fakes then the thread loses any credibility. Just my opinion of course.

Unlikely I''ll ever be in a position to drop that much on a watch, but I agree with you. It's nice looking at this thread seeing some real nice pieces some people have. The thing that gets me with people wearing fakes is most complain about how expensive the genuine ones are, but yet happy to seek out a fake, to give the impression they can do exactly what they complain about. Absolute cocks.

Ferrari with a 1.8 mx5 engine.

320d with M3 badge.

Patek with a Chinese movement.

The point of all these things is about how wonderful their construction is and all about the heritage, they are also like a really special treat to yourself for putting in the hours or getting something right that allows you to be in that lucky position to afford one.

I just find it bizarre someone would even consider any of the above?

"Nice car mate, always loved M3s."
"It's a 4cyl diesel with a body kit and badges stuck on it."

Why bother?

There are so many nice watches out there for no more money than the fake, just buy one of those and enjoy them?

People who can laugh at themselves and not be so precious about something as trivial as a watch are cocks, but the guys who spunk absolute fortunes on watches when people outside their door steps are dying with hunger are top blokes... What a world we live in.

Says the man showing off his watch while on a beach holiday. Priceless.

Astute people that already have money like to make more money while simultaneously owning nice things. If you buy the right Patek it is often then worth more than you paid for it second hand provided it's in good condition. If you have a lot of money, it can be easy to make more even while owning very nice things.

I can only assume that you said the above under the assumption that this £50k+ watch would depreciate in the same way a car does. Many of them don't.
