Says the man who called anyone disagreeing with him whinging, and their viewpoints "tedious. Very tedious".

I have clearly and factually supported my reasons for disliking Rolex.
They make a very good product but in my view their ethics stink.

No, I didn’t say that. Without specifying names, because I doubt it’s necessary, I said that the Rolex bashing is tedious, and it is. As far as I can see, almost every thread about Rolex has people slagging them off. It’s just thread crapping in the end, and isn’t necessary.

Have a decent read around the horological press.
The most common sentiment is "don't know why Rolex aren't increasing production" usually followed by speculation about reasons why.

In a highly robotocised manufacturing process such as Rolex one of the benefits is the ability to reprogram lines quickly according to demand. Rolex have clearly chosen not to do so.
Furthermore the shortage has been present for 4 years or more now. A company with revenues of more than $5bn per year should have the resources to react very rapidly to changes in the market.

What about the testing and certifying of the watches post-production? What about the parts of the process that aren't carried out by robots? What about the supply of materials? If a robot is operation for 24 hours and costs say £2m, you need to buy it, install it somewhere, have it maintained etc. And all to satisfy those who don't like the brand anyway? Have a word with yourself!

Same model and face as mine. Still like it a lot after nearly six years. It’s difficult to make a photo do them justice though!

100% honestly I wore it to dinner. And I just couldn’t stop looking at it.

Such a beautiful piece. Over the moon, been staring at it every couple hours , opening the box and taking a peak like a little kid lol.

biggrin
Buy some new shoes and wear them in bed too!

On a serious note, have you contacted your insurance company?

With your ‘rocking up’, watching of TOWIE and holidays in Ibiza....you’ll forgive me if I disregard your comments.
One of the advantages of having a younger woman is that you see a wider range of viewpoints, opinions and experiences. Rolex has moved with the times, good for them, they need to survive.

On the PH forum you open yourself up to character assassination every time you make a post and that is fine by me.

The days of Rolex viewed through the lense of Paul Newman have ended and been replaced by Rich Kids of Beverley hills and reality TV .

that is a clever move by Rolex and keeps them relevant but let’s not pretend that Rolex remains a gentleman’s icon because that ended years ago. If you wish to argue the counterpoint then fine, go right ahead.

Nice one. Great watch. Always fancied a Daytona, but unless the bubble bursts, a two-tone or a Speedmaster will do. smile

I don't know what the 'best' way is, and most of us won't know until we have to claim.
I added it to my home contents insurance. I had it valued by a certified valuer, £75. That valuation is valid for three years, but obviously I'll be keeping an eye on the prices.

Hi, I’m in a similar position myself as the op except a little older .
Was planning to treat myself for my 40th next year and after reading everyone’s comments on here I guess it’s about time I got my name on a list
My conundrum is a nice one to have but any views are welcome, the piece is not an investment piece (or at least not planned to be) but in the same breath I’m not powerfully built enough to throw my money away in something that won’t hold at least 80% of its value in the future (who knows what storms are coming)
The choice ( if an AD will allow me to)
A gold Daytona, ceramic bezel and rubber strap for the evenings weekends and a gold day date 36 with green diamond face for daytime / dress watch
Or
A platinum Daytona ceramic bezel ice blue and black face as my only time piece
I think both options are about the same cost and would be a big jump up from my current Tudor two tone which I’ve worn for well over a decade now

Thanks in advance and well done OP for getting such a nice piece at such a young age

Except there isn't a Pt model with that configuration. the Pt is ice blue face (brown or silver ringed sub-dials) with brown ceramic bezel

As a one and only watch they are surprisingly heavy due to the density of Pt
