I think its got to be a 26mm thank you. I found this pic on the internet which helped (26, 31, 34) . Looks like discounts aren't likely though.

Thanks for sharing the photos

Hmmm... 34mm does look huge on the wrist!

Definitely need to go and get her to try them on...

Discounts are unlikely, but it does improve your purchasing record to help you get on a ‘list’ for that elusive (insert any SS sports watch!) you’re after! biggrin

Hi, lovely gift... few things to clear up...

Rolex don’t make 26mm anymore, replaced by 28mm.
31mm is now the most popular ladies size.
You won’t find anyone who will discount the watch for you as a new item under £6,000... those days are gone.
Someone in a previous reply mentioned 0% finance which is a good shout.
Someone else in a previous reply said it might help you get a steel professional model quicker... it really won’t.

I work in the industry and it has changed hugely in the last two years. If you need any advice give me a shout and beware of people saying something is too big or too small/doesn’t look feminine... that is all personal taste.

I'd also recommend contacting Dom Hackett as mentioned in an earlier post. He supplied my wife's watch (26mm steel datejust), at a worthwhile discount to the normal UK price.

From Dom ..

Sourcing specific Rolex is difficult as UK Rolex stockists no longer sell to the trade at a discount, and the Pound has fallen so far that European watches (which previously offered excellent value) are no longer viable. We are always looking to buy fine, late model Rolex but do not have the 34mm Green Oyster in stock at present.

If we buy anything suitable, I'll call.

Wow, that is interesting. A £4K watch will put you in a good position to get a watch with a 6-12month lead time... where in the UK are you geographically?

Do you work in the trade or have a relationship with AD? Good effort either way.

Just to update...

I went into our local AD a couple of weeks ago and had a really good chat.

Took Mrs 595H in last weekend to try a couple on, and settled on a 31mm Oyster Perpetual steel. She wants the white face, and they have managed to secure one from Rolex that should arrive in about 6 weeks - perf3ct timing for her birthday in early November.

I suspect there is no discount to be had, but may see if they’ll do me a deal on getting my Speedmaster serviced...

My wife was after one for a long long time although she had a Cartier. I finally got her one through following some shenanigans and trickery from her. I bought one from Mappin and Webb (complete with a nice cup of tea - the most expensive cup of tea in the world..........Probably wink ). I was going to get her one from Dubai but never saw the model I wanted for her - white face with Roman numerals and no luminosity. The reason being it was supposed to be a dressing up going out watch so I did not want the sporty look to it. I got her the one up from the classic older small version so 26mm I think.

Anyway it seems she is always dressing up and going out as she never takes the bugger off. Her daughter has hijacked the Cartier.

Women - Not by strength by guile rolleyes

I should add that I believe Rolex sellers are not allowed to give discounts as if Rolex hear they will lose their right to sell. One of the big jewellery outlets near me suddenly stopped selling them due to this.

They don't hold their value because every woman insists on a new one whilst men are happy buying second hand.

Had a call on Friday from the shop - the watch has arrived in store, much quicker then expected!

We went in today so Mrs 595H could try it on - it is lovely. Understated but a lovely thing.

Not going to pick it up until closer to her birthday in November though, much to her frustration!

They cleaned my Speedmaster Racing whilst we were there and it looks sooo much shinier! I do quite fancy a Rolex Milgauss or an Air-King though...

Just as an update...

The big birthday was last Friday. We picked up the watch on the Wednesday. To say she’s happy is a real understatement!

Brilliant service from our local AD, Michael Jones in Banbury. Simon is a pleasure to deal with.

I’m more than happy with my trusty Speedmaster, but I’d quite like a Millgauss or an Air King... Rolex do seem to make some hideous gold monstrosities though!

This is what she went for https://www.rolex.com/watches/oyster-perpetual/m17...
