If had the 20k for a watch then it would be the VC Overseas Chrono as well, I suspect that the overseas will be next watch to get hot as there seems no real reason for it not to follow the AP and PP steel watches in that regard.

I am regularly surprised by the numbers of PP and AP I see on people's wrists in London, particularly in my gym, and it makes me want something different and less of a status symbol.

You could pay even less if you considered the Girard-Perregaux Laureatos, although you’d be giving up the quick strap change mechanism.
However, you’d also gain the option of a full ceramic case and bracelet too, for superior scratch resistance.

By “all three”, I presume you’re referring to the Overseas as being one of them?
If so, then you’re incorrect, as Vacheron Constantin never hired Genta. It was Jorge Hysek who penned the design of the VC222, from which the Overseas emanated and has evolved since.

I quite like Perregaux but seeing them at Bicester has put me off them and as you say, the 3 strap options set the VC apart.

I am indeed incorrect about Genta (although that was what I was told by the sales guy at WoS on regent Street and there are plenty of incorrect websites still claiming that). Thanks for the info! I had an Ingenieur, which you’ll probably know was a Genta design - there is something about the look of all four of the watches that I find quite similar.

That’s true but I work in W1 and don’t far away from the office, so I see see a few dozen Aquanauts / Nautilus / ROO everyday - and that’s excluding what I see in the windows I walk past most days.

Weird as it might sound, it makes them too ubiquitous to me to see them as particularly exclusive. But I recognise I live in a bubble!

I wear a ROC or a 5711 most days, you get the odd nice watch comment but thats about it. Take it somewhere outside london and you either get someone who knows what it is and is like amazed etc, or everyone else, the majority, dont know and dont care.

Both fantastic watches but I see too many of both to get excited anymore. I was obsessed with the Nautilus for years but now they just don’t do it for me and the ROC looks too small on my wrist to boot.

Don’t let the fact you saw the G-P Laureato there put you off, use it to your advantage by saving a good chunk of money. The Clou de Paris dial is something I find much more interesting than the RO/ROO Tapisserie.
They would certainly be a huge step up from the Ingenieurs.

I have a VC Overseas in rose gold. Bought new about 3 years ago.

I thought very carefully about an AP Royal Oak Offshore in rose gold and the PP 5712R at the time. Whilst they are all great watches, I picked the one I thought best suited my wrist.

I have a ceramic IWC for regular day to day wear but I do still like my Overseas

With everyone wanting SS Rolex and AP it really is a great time to buy anything else.

An unworn 2019 Vacheron Constantin fiftysix day date is now cheaper than most of the Rolex GMT 116710LNs listed on chrono24. That was a £6000 watch a few months ago.
