I was pleasantly surprised to get the call last week to collect my BLNR after making fresh contact with AD at the start of lockdown. If a mere mortal like me gets the call, it does suggest that they are perhaps more readily available!
Took me 5 months to get the call on the red writing SD. Not terrible vs what you hear.

Had to decline sadly as don't have a job at the minute frown

But I got the vibe that it wouldn't be ages if I go back on list when situation is resolved.

Perhaps I'm dense, but I don't see how it could be money laundering.

I'm assuming that the auction house doesn't allow winning bidders to pay in cash (at least not over £7,500 if I remember the transaction limits correctly): the money they take for a watch must already be in the system, so to speak.
Easy way to move money into Europe. Consign your item, get a friend to buy it. Get your item back with the money from said friend of a fee and the cash is in Europe without tax. Small fee to Philips who I'm sure are more than willing. For the really expensive stuff, it can now be insured for the new value and used as an asset to borrow against or I guess in certain circumstances insurance fraud.

Evening chaps, I have been advised that selling my 2015 Rolex Submariner date on here may be a better option than using the likes of Ebay, I have had a search on here to see where I should post the advert but I cant seem to find the correct page for selling watches, can someone give me a steer on this please? Thanks in advance.

At the top of any page there is a "Sell" link
Click on that and create an account.
You want the "non-motoring" section

fyi - i moved on my two rolex before christmas via ebay and paypal.

If you stick to the protections and the system it can be an easy way to offload a watch.

I tried a couple of independents in Manchester and they would only advertise on a SOR basis in their windows and they were stuffed to the gills with SS watches.

I'm seeing Datejusts selling for about £1000 over list.

The bubble abides.

I noticed this. Great watches, but not worth the asking price currently. In fact the same could be said about all Rolexes.

I have heard people have had terrible experiences selling on ebay, from the initial lunatics offering to swap for a dog, down to ebay buyer protection/Paypal holding funds and siding with the buyer who states that an empty box was all they received, or buyers sending a fake one back in the box. Crazy and not an experience I would like to go through.

When a watch with £400 worth of material sells for £9k then you know they aren't worth it.
But you are paying for the brand, same as anything else expensive really.

Well, you have heard from here, 1st hand experience, that i had no issues with selling my watches on ebay/paypal, they were slick and hassle free auctions.

I could see the bids, there are plenty of professional, verified and reputable U.K based ebay watch shops that bidded for my watches, if your auctions fail you can always take their bids using the 2nd chance function.

There will always get dodgy offers in your message inbox, for any asset of decent value on ebay.

If we all chipped in and gave you 400 quids worth of materials could you make us a Sea Dweller?

I'm sure there aren't 70 grands worth of materials in my M3 either, but you could give me 100 times as much and I still couldn't build you one...

Another positive from me, I sold a Tudor on eBay - I was quite apprehensive based on the horror stories, but the buyer had a 100% high number feedback, and the payment was received quickly. I made sure to pay the extra for the full insured postage, which added a layer of seller security.
