I said it a couple of years ago, with so many buying sports Rolexes in the last few years, nearly everyone I know in the fashion industry have sold them on (or tucked them away for now) and have been buying Datejusts and Oysters and Explorer, 39mm and 41mm models have helped bridge the gap between sporty and dressy.

Seen quite a few wearing the Aqua Terra too, and a few other models with a similar feel.

I have to say I don't get the new colours at all, but hey ho, they obviously know what they are doing.
The new colours are for the younger generation of the female persuasion.
I’am looking at a 36mm pink face for my wife’s Xmas!

That isn't actually true.

Rolex are aiming the new colours firmly at both men and women.

If you go on the Rolex page and click on 'Mens watches' they include the 36mm and 41mm versions of those fruity new colours, and if you click 'Womens watches' they include the 31mm and 34mm versions of those colours.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind the 'Tiffany' colour version in 41mm now that I've spent a bit of time looking at them.... rofl

I'd love to be able to get a Rolex on my wrist. What a statement.

I'm in the world of finance and have been very successful considering my age and because of that I have been behind the wheel of a BM for a few years now. Like Rolex, BM is a massive statement of how successful the owner is, it just makes that subtle subconscious statement, for me it makes that very clear statement of where you are in life's pecking order. A lot of my high-net-worth clients wear them and whilst I only have a Casio Edifice (like Pierre Gasly, Formula 1 driver) at the mo, which highlights the link to high performance BMs, I know that there's an element of mutual respect between the client and I as we each casually wrist-check each other. To be honest, when I'm speaking with a potential client one of the first things I look for is the watch, as other than the car they drive (always one of my questions) probably the best indicator of where they're going in the world. Or whether they've already arrived.

I aim to have pulled the trigger and have a Rolex on my wrist within 5 years, so might start making contact with a few ADs soon if peeps on here think that would help. It's certainly helped me in the world of BM because I have a personal contact in my my sales exec and he's well regarded by the dealer principal which helps smooth the way for me to receive special customer status (VIP invites etc etc) and I'd be looking for the same customer experience with an AD, reflecting where I'll be career-wise by then and the natural harmony of Rolex and BM.

What's the best way of being seen as a serious potential customer by an AD?

Do you trolls all just copy and paste the same 'joke' every so often?

You have posted that rubbish, or derivatives of it, in numerous threads and I have yet to see it get a single laugh from anyone.

Have you not got enough homework to do or something?

Thanks who ever posted the pic.

Probably quote that at the Rolex dealer when calling, should impress enough to take you seriously.

Whenever I've seen them I instantly thought... oh... couldn't afford or find the Sports model so settled for what the AD had in the window.

I think I was way off.... these are the new Sports models.
List on a jubilee white gold bezel dj41 is higher than you think - I think it’s a fair bit more than a Sub and not too different to a sea dweller. And as said above, also going for over list in the right colour.

I have a blue one. I’ve got a planet ocean and I find dive watches a little trite to be honest, I AM MAN MUST WEAR BIG WATCH THAT GOES TO 500m or whatever . Also they’re a pain with most nice shirts or anything with a fairly tapered cuff. The DJ is good for that and generally goes with anything although it is a little shouty with the fluted bezel and jubilee but I think it suits this model far more than it does the GMT.

List is £7900 for the white gold bezel DJ41, so yes, more than a Sub which lists at £6450.

All the 20 somethings that work for me don't get the sports Rolex at all.

The want fluted bezels and they want them now.

And diamonds, which I have always thought for cads or women. They're all guys and we work in a pretty masculine environment. The more successful ones all have DJ41s of varying metal configurations but all have diamond face.

Times change.

They keep telling me to buy a DD40 because "that's what bosses should wear".

The crazy thing is, I'm starting to quite like the idea of going full Tony Soprano. Not sure they've thought through the consequences!

How do you know the car isn't leased?
Are you making a judgement call based on the car they drive and watch they wear?

What if I turned up with my ceramic Kermit in a Golf diesel? Where does that put me? The watch is undoubtedly worth more than the car. Perhaps I didn't want to bring the Taycan out today

If you are wanting a Rolex within 5yrs, just go to online retailer and use some of your success to buy one.
You don't want to miss out on all that mutual respect ....

(BTW I don't have a Taycan, but do have a oil burner and the watch).

What a fascinating thread!

Parts read like a transcript of The Apprentice, with all the references to finance and trading, being the boss, underlings and people working for them, and of course being able to show them who is alpha with the correct type of Rolex. I can image the loud, shiny suits, too much hair gel and all the shouting! You can almost smell the testosterone across the internet. It's a great read though biggrin

Though still easier to get, only had to wait a month for the DJ41, vs the 6 that it took to get the call on the red writing sea dweller (which thanks to c19 I couldn't take!).

Some of it is trolling and satire but it’s always hard to tell on the Rolex threads.

I wish more people understood that there is no such thing as an Alpha Male in humans, we aren't pack animals, we no more have Alpha Males than we have twelve nipples.
