Hi, I don't think the AD's are arrogant - probably more sick to death of getting 10 enquiries a day for something they don't have, and very rarely get. I bought a Daytona in 2003 and TBH I'd rather it was worth £3k, then I would probably worry less about being robbed. (Irrelevant, but I was offered £3k for it from WOS in 2010!).
Spent £50,000 on items they cannot shift and the item you want will appear, its well documented and common.

Yes, probably.

All that is needed is for China to discourage stainless steel Rolexes, visa vi bitcoin, and the problem may be resolved.....

The flippers are inflating the price of rolex, surely more people are trying to buy from an AD now due to the extremely high used values of certain models. If the AD's were not so arrogant maybe I would feel pitty for them but I don't, Rolex are onto a win win I am sure they would not like WOS holding onto warranty cards. All the time we are taling about them their brand is increasing in value, all the time Rolex's sell for over list on the 2nd hand market Rolex brand is increasing in value.

I am against buying products with the sole purpose of 'flipping' them however some people don't care and some are more than happy to jump the rolex queue and mockery in order to wear one.
Something to do with supply and demand. I've no doubt there are an abundance of flippers, the opportunity to make money is just too available for there not to be. I've had numerous offers to have deposits paid to get Rolex stock to grey dealers for even easily available stuff, air kings, milguass DJs etc. With that in mind there's a pretty easy path to gaining standing with an AD and pass on the lesser stuff for cost plus a few quid, should you be so inclined.

I take it then that going into an authorised dealer and asking for discount on a Rolex, is basically not going to happen?

Sounds a bit much!

Having owned a (hard to get) Patek for a while, I must say I thought it was a bit ordinary. Nice, but not amazing. Apart from the fact that a lot of people want them, I can't see what the fuss is about.

I know it sounds like BS but its true! And i tend to agree with you on a bit ordinary,my pal bought a blue dial 5711 and i thought it looked a bit dated. But saying that i am waiting for a 5990 so what do i know!

I thought it was only the 40th anniversary model that goes for those crazy sums?
Was it one of them?

I’m trying to buy a SS AP Royal Oak Offshore, no dealers are willing to sell me one. I remember not long ago you could get a discount on these. The world has gone mad.

Yes, the reason being is they aren't stainless steel, made completely from platinum.

A stainless won't sell for £329k

One here for just under half a million

I didn't want to call total fiction, but it sounds like total fiction.

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but to my eyes, I think the Nautilus is one of the ugliest watches available.

I can’t stand that weird bulbous 70’s porthole look. It’s neither nothing nor something to look at.

Clearly I am in the minority though, and I fully accept that fact!

Like my Dad would say “I’d be mad if I found one”.

I would like to say 'i get it' if it is the 40th anniversary platinum version - then the price is at market.
but a regular blue dial??
if said chap got that for a steel version, then well done to him! I think the seller may have some regrets ...

I went into my local AD last weekend, I’m gobsmacked as to the availability of Rolex. Unless you want a ladies date just, or the odd 36mm men’s dj you are out of luck. We are looking at a 12mth wait for a 41mm in stainless, and 5 years for a Sub. I reckon there were maybe 6 watches in the window
