The 116710LN made some crazy increases after it got discontinued.

I tried to find that graph for a 16710 Coke and couldn't work it out... Please El Stovey - help me!

No probs,

You have to add it to your ‘watch collection’ in ‘followed watches’ (selecting if it’s unworn or not)

Sometimes the search isn’t great to make sure you’ve got the exact model. Pretty sure that’s a Coke. I can’t show the photo as it’s on my phone rather than iPad.

Actually here’s the top bit.

It’s showing a different watch to the first post but the prediction graph applies to all cokes.

If you add them to your own collection you can put in all the purchase cost and date etc and it tells you how much “you’ve made” and other total figures for your ‘whole collection’ etc

Rolex Bond Street, London told me today I would wait 8-9 months for a £5,200 Explorer (214270). Need this virus to reduce demand (joke).

To think, only 18 months ago you could buy a nearly new one from dealers on Bond Street for £3500 as well.

I’ve been thinking about these a bit too much recently, I’ve been thinking of selling my BLNR for one!

I’ve got one, so there. But it’s wearing a Pepsi bezel at the moment. It’s my travel watch.

I wish I had got in to horology sooner! The dealer in the arcade next door to the Rolex shop has a 2018 Explorer up for £6,400 rolleyes

This was the one I looked at in Spetember 2018...

We agreed £3500.

I will be honest, it didn't blow me away when I put it on, so left it. But then it wasn't such a bargain, just the sort of price they were going for. Then Hodinkee or someone started raving about it and the prices went up......lots.

I’d fit a Pepsi bezel too, I quite fancy an older 1675 model or a very late Stick Dial (I like the madness of the odd dial variations)

I’m becoming FAR more drawn to the pre ceramic models

This just proves the stupidity of masses. These couldn't be given away 3/4 years ago.

You know it makes sense wink

I actually thought you had got one around a similar time to me, a few years (6?) back. I daily my Sub Date on a £3 rubber ebay special.

My favourite piece... so never gets worn. Should probably go in a safe for the next generation but the temptation to sell is strong.

And WHERE have you been???? :-)

I bought a pre ceramic non date Sub in 2017 and that’s what has been the catalyst for this, I still really like the ceramics but they have a “jewellery” element to them in comparison and the proportions just aren’t as perfect, they seem clumsey in comparison, I’ve even come to love the old bracelet too!

The 1st world problem I’m in is that if I sell the BLNR then change my mind I’m not going to get another Oyster bracelet watch at list!

Dunno really... came out of a watch phase... went back through a car phase... settled down with Mrs9... bought a house... took my career marginally more seriously... still have most of the cars and all the watches - LOL! Actually, I sold a Zenith 1969 re-issue come to think of it.

Coke and Sea Dweller haven't seen the light of day in over a year! I'm wondering whether to chop at least one in... but (despite the thread title) it just doesn't make much sense really. I'm just not one of these people who uses his 'nice' things. Sold my 1 of 8 Clio v6 with 1200 miles on it... And bought another one (with more miles on it) to 'use' within a month. It doesn't get used enough frown

Glad to hear you are only takimg work MARGINALLY more seriously and you have a Mrs9 too!

I think what you are saying is that you are a bit stuck with this Rolex madness like I am, sell and I’d struggle to get back what I have because it’s all become such hard work!

Hmmm, Clios, my other love, I ran my Brother inlaw’s mk2 V6 in for him and I have a 182 Cup that I’ve done 50k happy happy miles in over 12yrs

That is nonsense.

They were still not easy to get, you couldn't walk into an AD and just buy a new one, and there was only about a dozen in the UK for sale when I wanted one, but they were around the £3650-4150 mark for a used one.

And also watch fashion has changed a lot in the last 5 years.

Sports watches took off big time 20 years or so ago and have kept climbing, however in the last few years we have seen a return to some vintage pieces and pieces that have that vintage look, which the Explorer falls into.

But in the last year or so a lot of the people I know who have been wearing sports watches for the last 10 or 20 years, now are wearing Datejusts, OP39s, Rail Masters, Aqua Terras, Seiko Spring Drives etc.

We are also seeing products like the Black Bay 58 and the new Omega Diver 300M with mesh strap and vintage colourings.

Many are liking the simplicity of some of the vintage styling and thus the pieces with a simpler look will of course go up in value.

Apologies for the thread diversion but since moving back to the UK we have done... 2x Williams, 2x V6, 1x 172 and that's just the Renaults!

Back on thread... I still think the metal bezel, stainless, Rolex sports watches are peak day-to-day watch. Almost a shame they're so expensive now but there's clearly a reason.

So

I’m going to Tokyo next Friday.

Is there a particular sports model I should think of getting for making a quick buck?
I have zero interest in Rolex’s to be honest, would only do it if it’s an easy few grand.

Or I’m happy to take an order if anyone’s serious!
