Gold has shot up, why wouldn’t other commodities?

You could see that Coronavirus actually increases prices.
Brent/WTI, API4, EUA have all tanked in the past days - commodities is a wide word
I get you, but we both know the games being played that caused that.

Who knows, if Coronavirus bumps off all the old baby boomers we’ll see a transfer of wealth to a younger generation who’ll maybe go and spend it on watches escalating prices further wink

On the first point...

And this time it does involve the Russians....

On the second...

Something to cheer me up at the graveside...

Certainly a correction going on:

Watchfinder bid for the new GMT 2 Pepsi on the jubilee bracelet, all papers and boxes: £12.5k two months ago.

Today’s bid on the same watch £8750.

Watchfinder are still asking £16+k for the watch on their website so they are either very overstocked or anticipate a significant price correction to come. I appreciate they are at the ridiculous end of the price spectrum.

Rolex will need to place the 800k watches they produce a year somewhere, perhaps the Far East allocations are being redistributed. Obviously COVID-19 is not going to help. I see the ceramic models dropping down to much more sustainable levels with most available in the used market for a little over list in the months to come.

Rolex will not have a problem selling it's watches.... Only the secondary dealers will have difficulty selling at a premium.

If everyone who wants a Rolex (a true buyer/owner not a flipper) could buy at retail price, then there wouldn't be any stock left for grey's to buy anyway.

The only people who are going to get burnt are the grey's, the people who bought at premium and all the people who have over stretched themselves financially to buy a Rolex thinking it would go up in value as an investment.

Anyone who pays premium for a current release Rolex is just crazy.... This is such a first world problem.

Rolex themselves, have nothing to worry about.

I‘m very impressed at your reaction there!

It just goes to show that the Watched sub-forum is the friendliest part of PistonHeads.

I’m not sure it’s burst but I’ve been looking for a GMT 2 for a while and prices do seem lower recently? Heading out to a dealer whilst working in SA tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see if they are as dismissive as the guys in the UK smile

But when you respected dealers selling 2019 no dates for less than 8k and making a profit, the WF asking price looks crazy and doesn't reflect what they paid for it which will be less than or around 6k....

Why get annoyed over banter, especially if I am in the wrong?
