Gmt 2s starting to drop now on Chrono24,
seeing a few 116710LNs for mid 7k now when before there was very few even in the 8k range.

Watchfinder still asking £9,700 for their cheapest ones hehe
The GMT was never that popular as most opted for the sub (was the Rolex sports that was always in the window in days gone past). Once it was discontinued prices skyrocketed as ‘suddenly everyone thought it would be a great investment’.

I remember back in 2010 a Goldsmiths salesman trying to convince me to buy one, it’s was about £4,200 list and he offered 0% interest. I couldn’t afford it as I was in first year uni and had just bought a preowned Explorer 2 white face for 2k, how times have changed.

I remember the gmt being the unloved Rolex too, that was well before 2010 though.

Surprised it was still unpopular then, I wonder when it changed? The ceramic models came out in 2009, looks like there was a slow rise in popularity of the gmt from then on. The batman and the discontinuation of the oyster bracelet lv both definitely led to all SS GMT values going up generally.

I got my gmt2 in 2010 and took a bit of searching. It was only harder to find because it was a new release model. After that then the watch was widely available, as was the ceramic sub and seen in ADs windows until the craziness started....

I'm still hunting for a new Air King, sadly still none around.

I also had a package sent from Europe to here in Australia about a month ago and it's still sitting at Berlin airport.
So buying internationally seems fraught with danger these days....

A chap on another forum made mention he just sold his GMT II to trade (box, papers etc), for what was about 60% more then I sold my similar age / model / condition GMT 3 years ago (also to trade)

Therefore doesn't look like the bubble has burst, slight deflation maybe, but still way up on 2017 values.

A 2019 GMT Pepsi sold on TZ-UK yesterday for £10,950 in one day. That's sold unseen, most likely by post with bank transfer up front.

Rushes to the website...

GMT 116710BLNR "reduced" to £12,350 from £12,500. SD1665: £23,000 to £20,930...

Five ladies watches, a 36mm men's Datejust which no one on Pistonheads can wear as we're all built like the Rock obviously

I can't see much there really
Oh I totally agree and also hate that they won't sell you a new one at rrp but will happily supply a secondhand one for twice that.

Point was, they never offer discount on secondhand Rolex, not as far as I can recall anyway.

Well, well, well ... I have just had a call from my local AD to say that the SD43 I've had on order has arrived. Pretty sure I went in last summer ... TBH I didn't expect it to be during 2021.

In other words, they are trying to generate cash in this period and they been through the list. This is something that they had come in just before lock down or already in the safe.

I was speaking to my AD a couple of weeks ago and he said he was putting together a stock order for Rolex UK and it would be the last delivery until further notice hence I'm confident your SD43 just didn't arrive. He even had a list of watches that Rolex UK were looking to shift to dealers on this last delivery that I may be interested in... Unfortunately for me, nothing that took my fancy and definitely nothing Hot.

This information is only correct for the AD's that are independents and get stock directly from Rolex UK, if it's a chain like WoS then they will have a central distribution, which supplies the stores.

Anyway, doesn't matter how it the SD43 came to you but if it's on your wants, then buy and enjoy it.

Stay Safe.

I'm looking to get a late model 16610 Rolex Submariner (ideally 2009-2010)

What would be a good price for a clean model with full box/papers in the current climate?

Silly me, I had forgotten about 2020 already. wink

Based on the interest in Watchfinder on this thread, I have submitted details of the watch to get an offer. They've responded.

Any guesses as to what they are willing to pay for a brand new Seadweller 126600? Winner gets a potentially COVID infected Bic biro ...

From my experience with them , theyll prob be looking at a 3k mark up. did they offer 8k with a rise of 500 pounds?

£7400 - £7600 is the offerbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

The cheapest used SD43 on their website is £11,950 for a used watch. That's some mark-up ...

I guess they'll be much keener to sell atm than to take on more stock, unless is from a v desperate seller who's prepared to lose £2k. biggrin
