Just seen this in a Facebook watch group;

This is a pretty well established dealer who have a physical store;

https://hypebeast.com/2022/6/the-watch-standard-st...

I'd be shocked if this is the last given what is happening out there.....

Watchfinder have a good few in stock at more money. I doubt their business plan involves waiting for mugs to walk by. The cheapest 216570 on Chrono24 is £8k with no b+p. So the one you saw doesn’t look wildly overpriced.

There will be a cull of less established and experienced grey dealers who have popped up in the past 12 months to 2 years as margins tighten.

As we can see, they won't want to hold stock so prices will fall ...

Meanwhile RRP is going up in the general Watch world so maybe it will be a case that the prices at the dealers meet the scalpers halfway biggrin

They have had some ambitious reserves recently, lots unsold even over list which muddies the water when it comes to understanding where the market is . Sellers need a reality check.

Doesn't show what didn't sell though which I think is what the previous poster was highlighting.

‘The thing that always surprises me is that the official dealers still sell at RRP and not higher since the manufacturer has no legal ability to enforce rrp’

Manufacturer would stop supplying them…….just like it’s kinda impossible to buy Apple iPhones/iPads etc at discounted prices.

Illegal - its resale price maintenance. Might be difficult for you to enforce but not for the UK authorities.

Isnt that always the case as a bubble begins to deflate? Houses for sale at boom prices when the boom has gone for example, just fewer of them as sellers decide not to sell in the hope of prices picking up again.

Likely with Rolex, new stocks will return to the dealers shelves and the grey market will decline with grey dealers taking stock on consignment rather than buying. Some distressed selling of watches by "investors" but many just holding on to what they have got already. The D word appears again.

Only question with prices is the effect of the fall of sterling

Interesting that the 16610LV on watch collecting sold for pretty strong money. Their previous high on that watch was 19k vs 17750 today, plus fees in both cases.

The older stuff will hold up better IMO. The very modern stuff is going to fall much more sharply IMO

A Bloomberg article suggests values have tumbled, yet they appear to still be nearly 30% up on this time last year,

But, don’t forget to figure in the £600 buyers fee required (minimum) on any sold prices within your calculations - which is still a significant chunk/percentage even on a £12k watch.

You can get a full set 15202st for around 30-40% less than they are suggesting as a current price…..

Article would be more helpful if they outlined what data point they are using (I.e dial colour, condition etc)
