So; did you try on the medium version?

I generally like quite a chunky watch but with this I think I would lean towards the smaller one. Maybe because of the square shape? Don't think the medium has a date though.
Therein lies the problem. A daily wearer needs a date. Otherwise I would favour the smaller one.
You just reminded me of when I had my first ever watch for Xmas. My birthday is in January and had a set of these.......

Needs a date otherwise yes.

I do always wonder about GSs though, it is a bit like owning a Lexus?
GS has a more niche following, but the quality is amazing, on the cases, dials etc, plus you dont need to pay Rolex money. The dial on the SBGK005 is amazing, I have one.

Other nice blue ones include the 2 below, which are very sought after as well, especially the Peacock

If you want to see other dial colours, the 2 below I own

They look very good and on paper they are superb value for money. I cannot say they light my fire though.

Speedmaster Date in blue. Mega shiny in the flesh and not particularly expensive. A 38mm case means it's not too huge on the wrist.

This was my first 'nice' watch and I still wear it regularly. It always gets positive comments, moreso than many of my more expensive watches.

Few blue faced ones here: https://www.swisswatchexpo.com/search/watches/omeg...

As this is PH, where budgets don't exist and it's customary to offer something completely different to what the OP asked for; im going to offer a blue dialled watch, with date, that is neither a Rolex or a Cartier...

Probably way outside what you want to pay, but i think its stunning.

It's an Odysseus and a snip at Euro28000.

The Seamaster with a blue dial is an interesting watch too.

There are also the Planet Ocean versions

The bottom one is nicer than the top IMHO.

I don't.
The orange writing puts me off.
I also prefer the (impractical) scalloped bevels on the bezel and the subtle facets and curves on the lugs.

Those Omegas look great, but I fail to see how someone would cross shop between them and the Cartier above?

Roman numerals. They're just wrong.

Yes. On timepieces particularly.

Because the the OP said 'I’ve tentatively been looking for a blue dial watch that isn’t a Rolex."

To be fair, I don’t see those watches as being interchangeable. Both very nice, but the Cartier is a smart watch whereas the Omega is a Sports watch.

The Santos is very much a sports/activity watch, the original in many ways and it bares the name of the pilot that commissioned Cartier to make him a wrist watch so he could use it whilst flying in 1904.

Every Day's a school day, Wills.

However whilst the Cartier's great granddaddy was a pilot watch it has morphed into more of a jewellery piece. Very lovely, but very shiny. The Omega is more roughty-tufty I am sure you'd agree.
