My little collection
Discussion
Let's hope it isn't a model year for the long term! I couldn't get married, can't race the bike, and have hardly used a car.
Baby arrived safe and well though, and the new job turned out to be well timed.
Its an interesting comparison looking back to last December. Of course, speaking on the 28th, 'feels like the future' was objectively correct for a number of reasons, which is why I wanted to start the thread. History is history, but it does bring to light the crazy year we've had.
I also said I wasn't really a Rolex guy, which has probably proved more incorrect with hindsight

More of your nonsense!:-) thanks for showing us, I was searching for pics of the new ND on a Nato but didn’t really find any!
I’ve only worn 5 digits on Natos, does the weight of the case feel ok on them?
There aren't many people taking these off the oyster, which is a shame because they're awesome on a nato. Like you I searched around the net for pictures, then just gave up and bit the bullet. Am sure it'll become more common as time passes.
Worth noting that the 7825 is the tool you need for these (and most modern Rolex). I got the 6825 in error, but I do a lot of strap changing and hate marking cases, so have kept it. Already used it on the Doxa and it was very satisfying

Yes, feels absolutely fine. The grey nato above is 20mm, the blue is an old 22. The perlon is a bit thin and they're both single pass, and comfy. Package from crown and buckle is inbound for some 21s to try.

I’ve bought from JPM in Italy, I had LOADS of OEM straps from Breitling for the Avengers I had, had Rubber Bs, had straps made by Jean Rousseau, swapped buckles from to make them look more factory etc, put Bremont straps on my Explorer 2, all sorts of thimgs, it can change a watch completely can’t it, and is quick and easy to do!
The strangest thing I did was post a poiished Breitling buckle to a random guy in California with $50 cssh for him to DLC coat it and post it back, he did and it was really satisfying because they didn’t make DLC buckles themselves 10yrs ago
There is one thing I can’t get my head around, I saw a pic of a white dial ceramic Daytona on a black Nato, I think it looked great but seens wrong!
I also saw a pic of a woman weating a gold Daytona on a pale beige Nato, looked great on her

I love tinkering with straps. Agree that some combos just work as OEM. I can't think of a better way to wear the Sky Dweller than on the oyster. The white OP goes well on the bracelet too, but if I had gone for a black OP39 it would have been on a black Rubber B from day 1.
Concerted effort to wear something that isn't a Sub today... sort of worked but its still a Sub300
Proves why the Sub is so good, it’s hard not to be the “one” watch collection!Concerted effort to wear something that isn't a Sub today... sort of worked but its still a Sub300
If I sold all others, I’d keep my ceramic GMT (for sentimental reasons) and my 14060M
I saw your Sub300 and immediately thought BILLET!

Nato shipment arrived... we have a winner.
The cheap all black one was a close second. The cheap grey was decent too.
This one is the Crown & Buckle Supreme Matte. Love it. [url]

There are 3 watches that are driving me a bit mad
Late 70s Tritium GMT, early 70s Speedmaster and a 39mm Explorer mk2 (and I’m avoiding looking at the 41mm ND Sub)
Something should go first though!

I was expecting this to land in February, but it turned up this morning and is delightful!
More thoughts to follow. I'm aware I need to do a round up of 2020 and probably think about firming up plans for '21. Will write something down and share it shortly. The thread is a year old already!

Just curios, but how do you all actually choose your watches ?
Is it a case of “I saw it, I liked it, I bought it” ? Is there rational behind the decision ?
I’m toying with the idea of a Breitling Superocean 2 for my 30th purely on the looks.
My choices are almost always design or aesthetics based. I like vintage inspired dive watches and, I've learned this year, white dials. Is it a case of “I saw it, I liked it, I bought it” ? Is there rational behind the decision ?

I've normally got something in mind when I go looking for my next watch. With the Aquastar it was to consolidate things I like across a few watches I own into one watch, with the intention of then selling a few. On first impressions I think it ticks the boxes, but I'll live with it for a while before listing the others. It's all a learning experience really, and I enjoy the process, stories and experience as much as interaction with the watches themselves. Classic collector syndrome!
On the Breitling: go for it. You can always move it on if it doesn't excite you enough.
