I recently put my Planet Ocean on an Omega (blue) rubber bracelet.... £400 including clasp. Not cheap!

The strap I bought was from Hirsch. It’s great. The bracelet on this watch is a joke. I was a much bigger guy when I bought it - so it’s the 45.5mm - with the bracelet it’s insanely heavy. Too much.

Zero chance I was paying that money for a bit of rubber. I also don’t like deployment clasps so made it easy for me.

Etsy has a bunch of sellers that do identical ones for $30

deployant

Autocorrect does not seem to know that word, though...

Either is correct. Cartier made up the word, but other manufacturers have used deployment for decades and they are equally credible. Arguing about which you prefer and why is pointless.

Japanese 7750 Speedmaster Date.

I am struggling to find a suitable bracelet. This is a new old stock ‘60s Omega that I have had for 20yrs. It fits but it doesn’t really suit the broader and deeper shoulders of a more modern watch.

I hadn't heard of that site and you're right, they do look the same. Next time!

Etsy is great for straps.

I fancy a rubber one for my PO. I would want a deployant, the watch obsession ones are brilliant for £30.

They look good.

Whilst I was pleased to have the proper Omega strap, I felt a bit raped at the price of it. I also think I prefer the bracelet.

Can't win.

I'm talking to a chap in Ukraine of all places to have a custom strap made for my Starbucks.
They don't advertise a 21mm but canmake it up for me.

I want the green stitching to match the bezel of the watch.
V reasonable in price, so if I don't like it, I'm not concerned about having dropped a wedge of cash on another item to add to the tech drawer...

Pretty sure I have a strap from this seller on one of my Seiko 5's - really nice strap, great quality.

Feel more confident now!

Anyone able to provide a definitive source for the strap size for a new Starbucks?
I read 21mm but on measureing it looks like 22mm....

Don't want to order the wrong size!

Is this the one from eBay? Looks great.

I’m wearing this Bifora again.

Yes, just opened it. Very happy with that impulse buy. Did you bid on the other one?

No I’ve held off over Xmas. Got a few others on the watching list that are taking my fancy.

This should theoretically be the last one which I'll be wearing this year I think, mainly as I want a simple transition into January and this one takes barely any looking after even though it is nearly 50 years old now. smile

It seems to be keeping spot on time since I had it serviced a couple of months ago, with the barely audible hum which still impresses me and forms a major part of it's character. I was asked a while ago if it was for sale but, having briefly thought about it, decided that it would be pointless really as it's just such a nice little watch. Not only that but what would I replace it with...

Personally think they’ve gone a bit wayward with design in recent times.

I paid 1750 for this thing 12 years ago. Still think they look better on rubber, and I was quite surprised to see that today the same watch costs 5500!

Certainly a lot lighter on a rubber, I use a Omega nato on my 45mm.....very wearable.

Arrived today, a G-Shock GWM-5610) which is a square and easy on smaller wrists but nobody really wants to see a G-Shock.... What you want to see is the other watch that arrived, this Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer - The re-ssue of their W10 which was issued to both American and British military in the 1970s. It is also one of the few modern Hamilton releases to use the vintage font on the dial. I have a feeling this will become quite collectible in a generation or so.

Specs:
36mm (although wears larger thanks to the case design)
Hand wind ETA 2801-2 base but customised and boosted to 80 hours power reserve
Mineral crystal which I thought would be an issue but actually isn't, no obvious glare and I don't tend to scratch my crystals anyway
