Ha - I have a S/EL, wearing it now. Love it for it's 80's Swiss Tony style strap alone
The s/el was a thing of beauty, far nicer than the link. The main issue was the bracelets falling apart, there was a setting tool that just pushed the two sides together - no screws or anything. If you’re still on your original bracelet you’re doing bloody well! zj2016 said:
I know what you mean. I got a red dial chrono in 2008 when list was circa £700, at that time a Carerra was circa £1600. Your now talking over £3,000 for a Carerra and I can’t bring myself to pay that so ended up with another F1. At over £3,000 I am more likely to look at a ‘better’ brand next time.
It’s all madness, I’m sure in relative terms the rises are about right, but my brain doesn’t work in line with inflation! Submariners are still £2650 in my head
Not sure where you are but the TAG shop in the Bicester village often has great deals on Tag.
Also https://www.burrells.co.uk/collections/tag-heuer-m... had some F1s in their sale.

Thanks for the input everyone.. I was in today to try it on. It's a 43mm and it felt slightly big on the wrist. I'm not sure if that's because I'm just accostimed to a smaller watch.
There was a similar F1 with a black dial and black bezel in 41mm size which fitted slightly better. But the particular model that I liked best (blue/blue) isn't available in 41mm.
It is a very nice watch though and still felt comfortable. I was going to take it today but instead I put it on hold until Monday.. just thinking why I shouldn't now!!

I’m still stuck in the late 90’s, when the F1 was £195 on a plastic strap or £250 on a bracelet.
The range topping 6000 series was £1050 - mega money back then!
Much nicer F1s these days, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend over a grand on one.
I was so eager to see the 6000, as a 4000 suto owner. Such a disappointment. The range topping 6000 series was £1050 - mega money back then!

I remember when the F1 was a £50 watch...

Wah1013? I kick myself for not getting one a few years ago as I love the look of them but second hand prices are daft expensive for them. GC8 said:

Wow.. that’s going back before my selling days! I remember when the F1 was a £50 watch...
My earliest memory of them was around 1995, at that point I think they were around £95 strap/£125 bracelet. You could pick up a used one for £30-£40 in the late 90’s though.
I liked the 6000, a million parts to the bracelet, link changes were fun. The Kirium was the game changer though, first watch designed purely with CAD and early starter on polished titanium cases. Threads like this remind me I should really search out a decent one on eBay, they’re still well priced.

But whatever you do dont go to watchfinder , Mine was on special offer in Fraser Hart for around £900 , got a bit of discount as well , whilst the same watch , secondhand, in WF was nearer £1k
I paid £1100 for mine I got one of the last ones that was floating around the dealers. I've seen the odd one pop up about £1500 there's one for £2500 on Ebay currently. Not a bad result for a new Tag. I have a connected S1 which is still going strong too. Those are worth bugger all used.

I bought an F1 back in 2989 for the princely sum of£72. Still had it and it was stil working perfectly right up until we moved house 7 years ago when it went missing. Sadly I think it may have been sent to the tip by mistake. I'm still gutted as I hate losing things like that.
You sure you did not teleport forward to 2989 to get an antique Johnny 89 said:

Go for it, i have the Blue tag in your pic...love it! I felt the same when I purchased it in terms of being large on the wrist - my daily before was a skagen, a very slim lightweight watch. There was a similar F1 with a black dial and black bezel in 41mm size which fitted slightly better. I purchased from Fraser Jones, was £1,095, they price match so I went away for a coffee to pret and found it for £795 and they matched it ,was well chuffed! Has to be exact model though....

I got a F1 Chronograph, black dial and bezel brand new as my first "nice watch". Recently purchased a Speedy Pro and Magrette.
I do like the F1 a lot, but I think it's going on sale as I just don't wear it.
Nice watches though for a quartz and it is nice to grab and go and not have to set them before leaving the house.
