Nothing to do with me, but I'd recommend this highly.
Will do everything you want, in the future it'll also be compatible with most other sensors such as power meters.

Here's mine, Fossil Q Machine,it's a hybrid smartwatch with analogue hands that is also a fitness tracker(steps), it does all notifications email/WhatsApp/text, date, and you can control music and your smartphone camera from it, I chose it as I prefer analogue and it's an all stainless construction which is ideal as I'm an engineer so it gets bashed about a bit!!!
That’s a nice version of the Fossil Q. They are a really nice design. I have a different one ...Snubs said:
Are there any cheaper watches someone could recommend, with the criteria being:
1. GPS;
2. Heart rate monitor; and
3. Talks directly to Strava.
Anyone tried one? Or as i say, anything else i should be looking at?
Thanks
ETA - I'm thinking up to £150
The basic Garmins will do HR with GPS and start at £1051. GPS;
2. Heart rate monitor; and
3. Talks directly to Strava.

It'll do all the tracking/alerts stuff if you want it to but you can turn that all off and use it purely to track activities.
None of the Garmins talk 'directly' to Strava - you need a GarminConnect account and the watch will sync with the Garmin app on your phone, then Garmin will send the activity to Strava. In practice it's near enough instantly from connecting to your phone when it's in range to being on Strava.

The Samsung that would pose an issue as i'd have to betray my blood oath to never buy anything from Samsung again (wasn't too impressed with the bloatware on the last one of their phones i had).
Funky - when i said talks 'directly' what i really meant was 'simply and easily', so the process you've described would be fine.
Now to choose....

I detest smartwatches but at £40 it was rude not to...
Got an email from them this morning saying that the one I ordered was out of stock, so hopefully you guys have more luck with the base model!Now to figure out how to hide yet another watch from SWMBO.
Still suspicious, didn't click on any links on the email, went to the ups website and entered the tracking number.
Sure enough I have a package coming from Luxembourg, currently just left a sorting centre in Germany!
When I ordered before it was out of stock and I got refunded through PayPal before the money was even taken, checked PayPal, no new transactions. Checked the mykronoz website, only one order which says refunded a couple of months ago.
So all I can think is that the model I ordered is now back in stock and their system hasn't noticed that it was cancelled/refunded?
Weird, oh well I will find out on Monday what it is and let you know!
Just got the Garmin Instinct Solar, awesome battery life, mine seems to sit at 21 days for ever.
Bob on for me, light, tough, minimal display, battery life that goes on forever, more functions than you can shake a stick at.
annoyances?
Just having to reset the bloody altimeter to a known value seemingly every few hours (common problem with many ABC watches)
