What should I do with this Omega?
Discussion
You don't need a new strap and advice. You need it serviced and you need it serviced sooner rather than later.
But feel free to ignore the unanimous advice you're being given here. Its your heirloom, and if you're happy to let it deteriorate for the sake of a few quid, then that is your business.
Just don't say that you weren't warned.

As it happens I have done exactly what has been recommended both before and since the initial recommendation and visit to the shop in Stratford.
What makes you think it's OK to be such a sanctimonious *****?

Out of interest, who did you choose for the servicing in the end?As it happens I have done exactly what has been recommended both before and since the initial recommendation and visit to the shop in Stratford.

I was not being sanctimonious, that's your inference and your assertion, not my intent.Edited by rlg43p on Monday 26th October 20:15
Now that's cleared up, I'll answer the essence of your question. Weirdly I actually care that the watch is kept looking as good as it does. I mistook your lack of posting for a lack of action and tried to bring home the consequences of such inaction. From your reaction, I gather the message was effective whether or not it was required.
[sanctimonious] There's no need to thank me, you're very welcome.[/sacntimonious]

Whether or not you intended it the post was clearly sanctimonious and derogatory. You assumed without any justification that I had ignored the advice given. Your post was not "effective" because it had no effect other than to offend.
The conversation with Anglesey Watch had already taken place prior to your "contribution" and the decision taken to send it there had already been made.
You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Offence was taken not given. I'll be blunt: the fact that you've taken offence isn't my problem and no manner of attempts made by you can make it so. The watch is getting sorted properly, that's all I care about.
I don't believe there's anything to be achieved here by name calling, but if you do, go ahead. I'm out.

As an FYI, I had my wife's Omega Constellation (22.5mm) serviced a few weeks back. We thought it had a flat battery during lockdown but it needed a few dial due to moisture / corrosion.
Granted this was using the Omega service centre, via a high street jeweller.
Anyway, the costs were:
Service : £380
New Dial : £390
Gives an indication of the magnitude of potential costs. Anyway, she's happy to have it back and we'd both forgotten how pretty the little watch is!

Yeah.... not cheap but you can guarantee that the dealings you have with Omega will not be faff. Every time I have dealt with Omega for servicing their approach has been second to none. Like I have mentioned before, my watch came back like new with several items of the internal clock work replaced at no extra cost.Granted this was using the Omega service centre, via a high street jeweller.

Is no one else surprised by the low standard of advice given by a 'repairer' recommended by the forum?
Are they inept or did they not want the work and if not, why not and why not say so, rather than send someone away with watch-ruining bad advice?
Also, you can't really blame the OP for relying on their advice (initially)?
