It seems somehow members of this forum don't seem to like IWC much, since no one commented on mine nor yours, UJ. But I like it; not "in your face" but quiet and elegant. And I shoulkd have mine back from its service soon.Hope you get yours back soon, can be a wait.

Agreed that IWC doesn't seem to be too popular here, I sense there to be a general opinion of "poor value for money."
I'd strongly recommend a trip to Schaffhausen for any of the IWC fans - the factory museum is a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours.
Popped mine on today and been reminded I need to swap over to a nylon strap for the summer. This one is a tad less elegant than yours John...
IWC are good I reckon, personally prefer the older lines a generation or so ago - the Aquatimer split minute and Titanium GST were very good in particular. Two characters went on to good things - Lothar Schmidt over to Sinn [influence on the EZM10] and Richard Habring [the one that designed the mechanics of the Doppel Chronograph] who went on to start his own company that, although not aesthetically for everyone, are technically very clever.
New one in my CAR WATCH CABINET.
(as I have an Alfa 75)
A very decent Daniel JeanRichard "Alfa Romeo", automatic with - I must say - amazing power reserve; around 4 days.
Not a clue what year it's from, sadly.
Cheap ebay-find (200£) and was very dirty upon arrival, but cleaned up nicely.
Original strap is tan-white-stiched-leather, will have to get one.
Although this silicon strap is very fitting too.

Feel the IWC love! Excellent stuff.
As regards the service - be warned! The winder on mine had come unscrewed unnoticed, and water got in. I sent it to IWC and the service was shockingly bad. No information, no updates, and when the watch came back the strap was the wrong way round. It lost time from the start, and has never been quite the same, and the service cost £1,000. I have given the watch to a local horologist this time, well known and reputed. He noticed the strap was the wrong way round immediately. I'll report back later. His cost is £250 by the way. I have a couple of Seikos in the drawer and for now, working on the old car etc, I have been wearing the old Monster. Battle-scarred, but you know I sometimes wonder why we buy expensive watches when this dear old thing is keeping perfect time; and all for a mere £120.Edited by lowdrag on Saturday 19th June 08:55

Not sure where else to put this but was excited to see ‘our own‘ Robbie Khan is a guest on one of my favourite podcasts this week - Scottish Watches Podcast
Look forward to listening to that later Robbie.
Ah yes! I forgot to mention here hah. Listening to it on Monday I realised I may have waffled on a bit but got the gist of podcasting now lol so looking forward to doing maybe some more chats soon enough Look forward to listening to that later Robbie.
For those interested it's here: http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/2021/06/14/scotti...
Finally!
I also ordered a leather strap and deployant. It's a lovely soft almost suedey leather, and a carbon fibre and steel clasp.
Plus a lovely screwdriver to remove links.
I couldn't undo them though. They were jsut spinning round, and I wondered for a moment of they might actually be cheapo split pins. But no.
Still; one screwdriver is as good as another, so I removed two links and now it fits!.
It was even telling the correct time and datew when it arrived.
COSC certified, bracelet, leather strap (x2) and deployant clasp (and a snazzy suede-lined 5 watch roll) for £1,400? Wor, bargain!
Better pictures might follow.
