Well yes there will always be the odd few.
Watches are having a bit moment currently. It was phones for a while but everyone has a decent phone these days. Smart watches exploded - but people know technology doesn't last. Something with a sense of permanence is desirable. The massive impact of Rolex can't be understated here I think.

Apologies for the poor quality photo.
I’d love a Silverstone next.

Bought myself this Carrera at Christmas as a treat to myself. My friend who is a big watch guy tried to talk me in to a brand that would have better resale, but I said that was irrelevant to me as I'm buying it for myself, not to sell. Aesthetically I just preferred it over the alternatives.

That's all that matters with a watch, do you like the look of it.

picked this up for 100 quid a while back , bit on the small side for me but I've ever always wanted one so it's probably a keeper

Cheers. It took me months to finally decide what to buy myself. In the end I had it down to five watches on a shortlist, three of which were variants of the new Tag Carrera chronograph. I honestly think they’re some of the nicest looking watches on the market right now.

Yep it's a great looking watch, and I really like how Tag bracelets look.

Formula 1 Chronograph arrived today from Swiss Watches Direct. It is the version with the stainless bracelet but they very kindly also sold me the NATO strap separately at a big discount in their sale, and swapped them for me at no cost and shipped for next day delivery at a very satisfactory overall discount compared to RRP.

And with two different bands it’s rather like having two watches for the price of one.

I’m thrilled with it. I know it’s only a quartz, but I love the look of it.

I didn’t realise this thread existed. Here my Tag Heuer that my wife bought me for my 40th a few years ago.

You chaps may be able to help on this one - I have an old Formula 1 and it used to have rubber 'fins' on the right hand side leading up to the crown, that have worn away/crumbled over the years, leaving the metal underneath exposed.

Can the rubber be replaced and if so, is it a DIY job? I can't imagine the watch itself it worth a great deal as it only cost me about £500 when it was new, so wondering whether it is even worth replacing?

Edit - hopefully you can see what I mean in the crappy pic below.

Don't think I had any on mine ,but getting any parts for it now seem hard work .managed to get it serviced new battery and strap a few yrs ago set me back half the cost of the watch. coudnt get hold of original strap recently .you won't see many of these on original ones they used to split, this is my third strap ,good to see the F1 lives on mind,I find it very comfortable as I only have small wrist

The series 1 F1 really only works for tiny wrists. I don't remember it being this small when I first bought it.

Got my first Tag F1 when I was 11 so 25 years ago, men’s size black with pink numbers. Still got it tucked away in the safe but treated myself the other week to a Monaco for something classic to wear as it seems my Royal Oak has become something people seem to know what it is these days.

I think that even if it is possible to do, it's going to be too expensive - it doesn't look particularly 'wrong' without the rubber bits, so I'm probably better off leaving it as it is.

Yes, came with the steel strap.

Yeah, I have small wrists so it looks ok when wearing it.
