It's a lovely thing IMHO. I have a real soft spot for annual and perpetual calendars. Maybe one day...
Me too. It's why I had to have the Sky Dweller - on of the few, if not the only, annual calendars that's so easy to set and has no 'danger zone' in terms of when you can set or whether you can go backwards etc. Very clever.
I was in Lisbon last week, so went watch-hunting around some of the boutiques on the main shopping street. Some brands were as expected..
Rolex - GMT Pepsi, Explorer 1 + 2, Air King. All 'exhibition only', plus a few women's / jewellery watches. Disinterested staff.
AP - Literally an empty cabinet. not a single watch in to view. Friendly sales assistant, but probably bored stiff in a completely empty store..
PP - Nothing but women's and a few dress pieces. Lovely big empty store.
VC - Bare, some Fiftysix in stock, obviously no Overseas. But very friendly staff, had a good chat (not much else to do with no customers in there).
Big Omega boutique but that's all the usual stuff.
Tudor - few things in stock, nothing I haven't seen before (no chronos)
Zenith - tried on their chronomaster, I'm a big fan, lovely watch. Black dial was available, white dial ('panda') there's a small wait for apparently.
Panerai - small selection given it's supposed to be a dedicated store (in the same building as PP, Tudor etc). Few Luminors, some Submersibles, not a single Radiomir sadly.
Few other brands dotted among them. Some beautiful Breguet, including a tourbillon for something like ~€130k, some Blancpain, some Glashutte, and some pretty bonkers Franck Muller (not my cuppa tea but...)
I transferred through Schiphol but unfortunately had to run between gates due to flight delays so didn't get chance to browse the airport stores, maybe next time...

The Sky Dweller is the only Rolex that I would really love to own - for the reasons you describe. The complication is very discrete. Most people would think it's just a regular date window. For some reason I like that.

Unimatic. The case design and build are phenomenal.
If you haven't tried one, you should. No good for telling the time, though.
I do like the Unimatics a lot! but IIRC they are quite a lot of money for a low-beat movement??If you haven't tried one, you should. No good for telling the time, though.
I guess one must pay a certain price for style, though lol

You should try one on.
