Shall be bringing in the new year with my father's old Avia. Wishing everyone a grand new year for later!

That's very classy.

My old man's Avia Olympic is in the attic somewhere, packed away during a house move. I keep meaning to retrieve it, I'll make that my New Year resolution

First thing I did with my similar watch. Went for a lighter brown.
Nice.

That's the plan, have ordered an Otley vintage leather from Watchgecko, they have them on sale at the moment for £14.

I don't mind a bit of budget creep, and enjoy the occasional operatic break, but I think I'd draw the line at expanding to start including other collections, sorry.

^ decent specifications on that. No surprise that Steeldive and Addiesdive are such thread favourites.

It’s a real Invicta ‘killer’. I really should resist getting one this year.

Back to the auctions over the last couple of weeks and picked up this Citizen Eco Drive for £40. Nice thing, its going to be serviced before I wear it though.

That looks a bit of a beast. I like it but wonder whether my 'athletic'/girly wrists are man enough to carry that off.
As Figaro says, that's a very decent spec for half thread.

Maaaaate

Nail on head.

That role bought me half a house.

Anyway, back on topic. Does an Eco Drive actually need a service?? Surely it’s either working, or it isn’t?

Hope that didn't come across badly, it was meant in a complimentary way!

I'm of the view that watches only need attention when they don't work properly, especially at our modest price point.

It works, I'm just talking about getting it cleaned up, it has some stains and a couple of scratches I want removed.
