Those are (I think) available in the US for $50 from places like Costco. There is a US reseller who ships to the uk for reasonable prices, he was linked above.

For £50 it makes a decent case for itself; at £100, not quite so much, but what do I know?

Saturday night, in front of the TV with the family watching 80s John Hughes movies, and with a bottle of Bordeaux rapidly diminishing I have just spotted this ad on the back of the Saturday supplement...

A few thoughts..

1. What a clumsy looking watch.
2. Probably costs north of £10k (can't be bothered to check, it's so fussy)
3. The blurb, whilst trying hard to convey some sort of prestige pitch, includes a split infinitive which offends me.

However, the ad (or perhaps the wine) has triggered the purchase of another sub-£200 watch...

I'll probably read this post in the morning and delete / cancel watch purchase. Time will tell...

Strangely I really like that, however I certainly wouldn't pay north of £10k for one.

£10k. biglaugh

Try £40k chaps.

Agreed. At around 50 quid they're a no-brainer for a tough utility watch. I want a rugged quartz in my watch box to wear for gardening and the like. This and a new Steeldive are the the first of my stolen kit that I've replaced; I really liked mine.

Finally jumped on the Pagani train! biggrin

Should be here tomorrow, 1701 V3 at sub £100 shipped.

Will be pairing it with a black and grey Nato.

I'll post a few pics once it's here.... but how bad can it be for half the cost of a Nato strap for the "proper" one laugh

That's Jason from great watches, I've had three Duros from him plus a few Casio digitals too.

Recently Walmart have been having a huge sale and Duros were available for $11

Nothing as interesting as a Duro in Walmart this side of the border that I have seen.

Tempted myself - be interested in your opinion of it - they get great reviews. I wondered about the 24h dial but I think that's just part of the Seiko mechanism.

Based on the popularity of the model in these parts and managing to get a near thread budget reduction… I hope for a bit of slack…
My new ‘posh’ watch to celebrate my half century. Box, papers and bag.

It’s a blue 44mm Hydroconquest, the saleswoman was very patient with me going between sizes and the colours. This is the first time I have ever been fortunate enough to be in the position to buy a watch like this, asked if there was anything they could do to help with the price and they were receptive. The staff were very nice to deal with.

+1, a decent discount on a lovely watch.

Anyway I’ve temporarily swapped my Hanowa automatic for this Seiko 5 Sports.

It’s rather nice.

Nobody does dials on budget watches better than Seiko, and this is no exception. It’s almost a concrete effect. Looks lovely.
The case is bead blasted which fits with the grey.
Applied indices.
I like the case shape and crown at 4 pm.
No screw-down crown which makes me nervous.
Drilled lugs.
This has the 4R36 movement so it hacks.
Lovely bezel and aesthetically it works nicely too, with the ghost numbers.

Well worth a look.

Apologies for the orangey photo, the hotel room lampshades are all a bit 1970s.

The €20 Skmei arrived today.

Slightly bigger than the Tag and Seiko, with a weight similar to the Seiko.

It looks nice enough. No oddities, or annoyances. The finish seems perfectly good, but that's something only time will tell!

Looking at the posts above, it's clear what their 'inspiration' was.

The chronometer is suspect. Seems glitchy to operate, and the hour hand refuses to go back to zero! Crown is push in, as you'd expect.

The bracelet seems pretty good, similar feel again to the Seiko, but the finish on the clasp is better on the Seiko, as you'd expect.

Well i currently have 6 watches inbound from the aliexpress sale. A couple are keepers, three i'm on the fence with and one i'll probably flip on ebay.

A Tandorio willard homage with mother of peral dial, a pagani chrono thats not a moonwatch, a megir monaco, another synoke casio royale, a munite AP chrono homage and a fox box tuna homage.

Pics to come as they land.
