It's odd for sure, personally I'd rather it wasn't there at all. I prefer a watch without, or just the date alone.

I like the rough dial though, but the lume is rubbish. Looks great for the 5 minutes it works for!

I like the date window tongue out

Better than those dials with a round blob cut out somewhere seemingly random between the 3 and 5 o'clock markers! lol

I actually like it, keeps the 3, 6, 9 and 12 clean.

My (otherwise perfect) Glycine Combat Sub has date there, and being red on black, it’s pretty much illegible:

In other news my Invicta 1953 is back from the watchmaker. It was gaining an hour a day. Sticky mainspring or something. Anyway it was only a £15 fix:

The combat sub is a beautiful watch. That date window does look good though, even if it's largely useless as you say.

Both straps you're using look great. I've just ordered a pro diver. It wasn't initially on my radar at all but the absolutely hideous other stuff they make and the hate they often get endeared me to the brand somewhat. Did yours come with the yellow coloured rotor?

It should be arriving tomorrow, along with a Casio AE1200 that i intend to lightly mod. Have had to order a new 12 watch box to accommodate.

This thread is both a blessing and a curse.

The 1953 is a great watch smile

Just needs a sapphire crystal to really make it, IMHO!

Thought I’d try a lilac leather strap but went cheap from Amazon and it’s faded, cracked and made my wrist itch on the first wear. Lesson learned and I think it needs a darker strap unless I’m in the sunshine/on holiday.

The colours on the dial are amazing.

Got mine on today too. Fantastic dial.

Yep, they all do. The main difference (I think) is that the 1953 case is brushed all over and doesn’t have the INVICTA engraving on the side.

That black 22mm leather ‘rally’ strap was eBay I think.

The brown strap on the Invicta was a handmade order from Sherp Leatherwork on Etsy and I highly recommend his stuff.

I got a Bund strap from him too:

I realize that some people find dive watches on leather straps unacceptable; consider it a dirty pleasure, or something.

The display caseback on the 1953:

I don't usually like the date window at anywhere other than 3 or 6, but that looks really cool with the date properly aligned. Not seen that before.

Yep, they all do.
Not so as of late, or so it would seem. Its a lottery as to whether you get one or not, even says 'subject to availability' or some such on their website. Will see when mine arrives tomorrow, I hope it does as it looks boring without.

If dive watches didn't belong on a leather strap, then they wouldn't look so good with them biggrin

Think I'll take a look at his stuff, it's nicely done! Ta for the tip.

Lovely.

My personal favourite is the 'Bolt Zeus Magnum'.. behold:

Is it strange that I want one? in an ironic fashion of course.

Whatever they put into the coffee at Invicta, I'm not sure I want any of it... lol

Apologies for giving incorrect information! I’ve had two, both with the display caseback, and I wasn’t aware that anything had change.

Do post a photo of yours. We haven’t had an Invicta on here for ages, it seems. Their Pro Diver offerings have been out-specced by the Chinese.

I was also disappointed (as was my lad) when his 36mm quartz Pro Diver filled up with water when he swam with it on holiday, despite its supposed 200m wr rating.

Will do. It's a paler blue similar to the grand diver in 44mm, managed to get it for £82.

I did see that you had a failed one in the water, as I'm currently working my way through the thread from page one. Your fat suit has just made its first appearance!
