To ask a question, has anyone ordered from / got any recommendations for a good vendor of what is apparently termed 'dealer clocks'?

You know, the massive oversize versions of watch heads that you hang on the wall as a wall clock?

I am highly sceptical as to the genuine nature of some of them hehe but there is one I quite fancy... lol

Any comments/recommendations much appreciated!

They are all Quartz right? I think the likes of Seiko probably do their own, but the fancier brands probably either farm it out to a third party, or have nothing to do with it and the products are not licensed.

Seiko have a blown up dive watch available on amazon, might look a bit loud in the kitchen but could work elsewhere.. my Mrs gave it a flat 'NO'.

The luxury brand ones are all counterfeits I think.

Isotope had their one available again last week, I liked it but didn't buy one in the end.

I do have one of the mini Seiko marathon timers.

Forgive me Father Bobbers for I have sinned.

I have been led astray from the righteous £200 path and have had my eye turned by a brazen hussy 3 and fifty times the thread budget.

I feel uncomfortable if this thread discusses such expensive sirens so I will not post details other than the fact that it would answer my year long search as an OP for "a small green watch".

This one watch would cost more than my other six watches all together, what should I do, I ask for guidance from both Bobbers and his congregation.

Post script

Just typing this has given me an idea.......Please look at he small green watch thread about to appear and give me your thoughts, your thoughts are far more valued than the thoughts of people in "those" threads.

Cheers, Summit7 (I need to change my ID to SummitJag or No Longer at the Summit, the 7's gone and I don't do business any more let alone at the Summit)

Wow, I thought you meant 53× budget, not 3.5× biggrin

Got to say, I'm not remotely drawn to the CW proposition myself. Can't put my finger on it, they just seem to occupy a middle ground that doesn't pull me in. Just a personal view of course.

That Bulova I've posted over there looks pretty groovy though, it's what I'd do if I needed another greenie...

If you fancy an under £200 option you can get some nice handwound chronographs on Aliexpress.

The website is awful, but if you type in "1963 chronograph green" you should fine a couple of designs in green. This is the nicer looking one in my opinion. Only 38mm, though some are 40mm. Taxes get added on at checkout.

The Seiko Alpinist that someone recommended on the other thread is a good option. They are 39.5mm, but wear small. You might find a used one on ebay for a good price if you look regularly. That's where I got my blue one.

Fear not young summit7, we are all occasionally drawn to the dark side, I myself have been persuaded to spend multiples of the hallowed, grail defining, just about right, £200 thread ceiling, all is forgiven, just don't ever do it again!!! nono

To evoke the sentiment of Harvey Weinstien's 600lb cell mate: "Me too."

We are probably both of an age that we remember old folk telling us that the time was five and twenty to five. I also read "three and fifty" as being 53 times the budget!

We also appear to have a similar view on Christopher Ward.

15 years ago CW's were priced around the £300 to £500 mark. The designs were interesting and the finishing was excellent for the price band. Since then they've moved progressively up in price and (IMO) become increasingly bland. They just don't rock my boat. But what do I know? There's nothing wrong with 'em, they're decently made watched from all accounts, so if you like 'em, why not?

Possibly a little left-field, but when I was in need of a kitchen clock recently I fell down a rabbit-hole of converted ship slave clocks. Mine is very similar to this:

Nicely within thread budget, too biggrin

Just a word of advice to any newbies, from a newbie..

Check if your watch has drilled lugs first before installing a strap with shoulderless spring bars:

Fitted the Geckota strap on my Duro to see what it would look like. Had to use snips to get the bars off and managed to nick the strap right at the end. Was disappointed to find out a new strap is £98!

It's not fancy, but since adopting my quartz Lorus as a work watch I can't help but be impressed.

Lightweight, tough, small and a lume that seems to last for hours. Perfect for the night shift. Standard strap was beyond awful, but a decent silicone one has made up for that. Great buy at argos for £30!

That is excellent.

I've given that one to my old man, since I had a replacement on order. In hindsight, the simpler £30 quartz is a better option. The automatic I've replaced it with is 42mm with no bezel, so looks oversized. It's also heavy and tall.

Still looks good at night though!

I think they're both great looking, simple, easy to read, field watches!!!

I'll stick it on a chunky nato strap and see if that makes it look better to my mind. It seems that I'm a 38mm guy really, apart from wide bezeled divers which can work on anyone.

In other news, my dubious F91W has found a new purpose as a stand in for the broken clock on my BMW. Surprisingly secure and functional here!
